Why does it cost $25 to buy a .com domain but it costs $35 to renew a .com domain?

Hi Nathan Daniel Henderson,

The price for domains have changed to $34.95 when Yola added more security, more features, etc. I'm thinking that you registered your domain before the price changed.

It costs the same price to renew a domain as it is to buy one.

Sorry for the confusion.

Kind regards,
Nathan

Hi there Nathan Daniel Henderson,

Can you please let us know where you saw this pricing discrepancy?

Nathan is right, the prices for Yola domains have changed since you first purchased so the new prices are a bit more.

I hope this helps.

Yes, I understand they have changed which is fine. But the prices are different in different places.

http://www.yola.com/buy-domain-name

Just type in a random domain name for .com and it says $24.95.

Hi Nathan,

Pricing does vary based on the amount of time you choose to register your domain. The text reads that your domain "is available for as little as $24.95/year." If you proceed to the next page and opt to register your domain for 5 years at $124.75 the cost is $24.95.

But if you choose one year, it is $34.95 where as on the page before, it say's $24.95. This is very misleading and should be changed.

Again the text says the domain "is available for as little as $24.95/year." If you look at the screenshot you posted you will see that is the exact text. It is not a price quote rather an estimation based on the package you select. I am happy to share your feedback about the confusion it's causing with our Product team but the information is accurate and is in no way meant to be misleading.

I would change it to where when you choose a domain suffix (.com, .org, .net, etc.) it would change that price with it.

I will pass that feedback along Nathan, though I believe the challenge is that the price changes based on the extension and the amount of time it is being registered for, hence the need for 2 screens.
