Hi Todd

I am not sure which website you are referring to. Can you post a link? It would be useful to see an example.

I suggest that you use the two column layout widget. You can drop additional two column layout widgets inside the original one and then drag the green center axis to resize the width of the columns. You can then drop text boxes inside your columns.

To add your own banner you need to use a style that allows you to change the banner image (Center Stage is one of these) Click on the banner to upload your own. You can then edit the image with Picnik to add your own text to your banner image.

I hope this helps. Let me know if this is not quite what you had in mind.

Best wishes
Monique

Monique,
Check out this website from your featured:

http://thaicookinghouse.com/

It has text boxes with borders and a color strip in the top. How do you get those?

I thought it might have been that site! The person who created it used custom HTML. If you use the email address on that site you can email her and ask her how she did it. She said I could refer people to her who had questions about how she did the site. Just note that it might take her a while to answer you, as she has been getting a lot of emails about her website!

Monique,

Is there a style that will allow me to type text right under the banner like on that website above

It is the text that reads
Thai Cooking Classes with Niddy Lindsley

Also how can I put borders around text boxes?

You can do that on any of the styles that allows your to change the banner image. SynthaSite now offers a selection of styles that allow you to change the banner image. If you select one of these you can add your own logo. We will also be releasing several new styles soon that will have a space for a logo so keep an eye out for these!

If the banner image can be changed, you will see a white box with an instruction placed over the default banner image.

To change the banner image:
1) Click on the white instruction box that says "click here to change banner image"
2) The file manager will open up that will allow you to browse your computer for a picture to upload.
3) When you are done, click "ok" and your own image will replace the default image
4) If the dimensions are not quite right you can fix this by choosing the "edit with Picnik" option in the file manager. Picnik is a web-based image manipulation tool that has an option for you to resize your image. When you are done, click "save to SynthaSite" and the new image will replace the old one. You can also use Picnik to add text to your banner image.

Please note that the white instruction box will only appear in editing mode, and will disappear when you preview or publish your site. Also, you may use the default banner image if you wish.

Hint: You can get rid of the header text by clicking on "Properties" - delete the text in the page heading field and replace it with a single space. This way only your logo will appear in the banner region of your page.

Here is a link to an article that will tell you how to put borders around your text boxes: http://www.mandarindesign.com/boxes.html

Monique,

Thank you for the website on putting borders around the text boxes. It is a little difficult to navigate and the borders are small.
Do you know of any other website that might help with borders?

Thank you
