Having recently published I have tried to access via hyperlinks in names and images on about us files that are stored in my uploaded files but all I get instead of the documents is a request to open a zipped file via winrar. The files do not open as they did before publishing.

Hello Andrew,

Do you mind posting your URL and letting us know on which page you're seeing this trouble so that we can test this on our end. Please also let me know what browser and version you are using.

Thank you for your patience as we work on this together.

OK. Just mucked about with the files again. They now load slowly after getting a prompt from word and are shown as a word document. Is there a way in which the links can work by displaying something that looks more professional and not an obvious document created in word?

Hi andrew

Thanks for the update.

When you say "more professional" do you mean a text link that allows a visitor to download the file?

If this is what you would like to achieve, please have a look at the Creating Links tutorial.

If you mean something different, please explain in more detail and give examples if at all possible.

Thanks for the reply. I will look at the suggested link but what I was hoping was that when you click a link it opened similar to a pop up. I am wondering if I need to create addional pages on the website that are perhaps hidden if that is possible and link to those to achieve what I am hoping to achieve.

Please advise.

Thanks

Hello Andrew,

Yes, you can have links opening in a new window or tab linking to hidden pages.

Nazlie's link above will have instructions on how to do this.
