Does downgrading the bronze account to free mean it's no longer online?

Hi,

I don't recall paying for the Bronze account and yet I have it. As I believed this to be a free account and therefore do not want to renew does this mean my site will no longer be online? Does the free package not include hosting if I downgrade to the free package? The information regarding this is not clear on the Yola site.

Thanks.

Hi,

The Free package doesn't include hosting so if you have any sites published on custom domains these will cease to be published. The site files will remain in your free account and you could publish to a free yolasite sub-domain. This is limited to a total of 2 published sites.

Hi Muhammad,

Just to add to what Gop said above, custom domain owners were automatically upgraded to Yola Bronze when we released our new package changes last December. Our domain used to start at $34.95 a year and include free hosting. Last year we slashed our domain pricing and began offering our hosting package separately. The blog post linked above gives more information. Please let us know if we can help further in your decision about whether to remain a Yola Bronze subscriber!

Hi John,

I replied on your other thread but perhaps I can add additional information here. When we initially changed our pricing structure back in December 2011, customers who already owned domains with us were upgraded to Yola Bronze free of charge for the duration of their domain subscription. Thus, an upgrade to Bronze was not required until renewal of your domain was due. As mentioned in the post linked above, this allowed us to reduce the cost of our domain registration substantially and was implemented specifically to benefit customers like you who own multiple custom domain registrations.

Hi, I feel a bit like John! somehow feel your service is not as good now and we're being roped into paying for things that were free. i want to downgrade from Silver to Bronze as don't need extras added. Contemplating just moving my domains elsewhere. would need CNAME or A , how do I obtain that? Thanks.Carol

Hello Carol,

The CNAME or A records is host specific. Some use one or the other and some use both, others use Name Servers (NS).

These Zone records don't actually move your domain but simply point them to another host. To move your domain you need to initiate a transfer. Transfers generally entail a cost often equivalent to 1 year of registration, charged by the winning registrar. Pointing a domain is a non-additional cost action.

The processes for these actions are given in the tutorial collection: Publishing, domains and email/Managing the domain bought from Yola

All well and good, but you still haven't told me how to downgrade. You actually make it impossible for customers to do it themselves. I DON'T want a Silver Package anymore, please can you make it possible for me to Downgrade!!?? Thank you.

Hello Carol,

We need to contact Yola CS via their Contact Form for enquiries and actions related to accounts.

The link is in the footer of this page under Need help?. It's important to use your registration email in the Form so that the message will be routed correctly for a faster response. The response time can be 48 hours but I have found it generally to be faster.
