Hi Sean, Yola is a free website builder and has free hosting for your Yola site. But you can't host HTML websites or forums on here because it is not really a web host, it is a site builder. Here is all of the features of Yola: http://www.yola.com/features Just hover over the numbers and it will highlight the description of the feature. This forum is ran on Get Satisfaction. You can use that for a forum but it is not the same as the forum you are probably wanting to use but, it is a good forum service.

Hope this helps,
Nathan

Hello Sean

There may be some possible alternatives for you. Yola is integrated with "Tal.ki" which provides you with the ability to easily add a forum to your site by dragging and dropping the Tal.ki forum widget into your site. Here are the steps:

1. Select "Communicate" in the Sidebar on the right of screen.
2. Drag and drop the Tal.ki Forum widget.
3. You can sign in using your Facebook, Google, or Yahoo account and more!

For more information about Tal.ki and how it works, please feel free to visit their site.

If you would prefer to use a different forum service, you can also embed a forum from nabble.com. Go to their website and follow the steps to create and customize your forum. Then click on "Embedding Options" at the top of the page and copy the HTML code. Back on your Yola site, follow these steps:

1. Drag and drop an HTML Widget from the Sidebar onto your page.
2. Paste the code into the HTML editor that opens.
3. Click on "Save" and your forum will be added to your page.

We have a post on our forum with more info on nabble.com: Free embeddable forums.

Alternatively, you can use Widgetbox Gallery to locate a forum that you want to use on your site.

1. Drag and drop a Widgetbox Gallery Widget (located in the "Widget Collections" folder) onto your page.
2. A dialog box will open, search for "forum" to see all the widgets available.
3. Choose the widget you would like to use on your site and customize the settings.
4. Click on the green "Get Widget" button and it will be saved and added to your page.
5. Save and preview your page to view the widget.

I hope this information is helpful to you. If you have any further questions, please let me know.

Thanx all for the informative replies!

I was actually hoping to upload an already existing forum onto the web hosting, but I suppose since Yola is a free site builder and not a web host, this is not possible.

Would I get actual web hosting if I upgrade to a paying plan?

No really actual hosting because you host your actual sites with Yola, but, you can upload it to your file manager if you have Yola silver but then it will be
http:// yoursite.com/resources/page.html I think Yola is going to develop this though. (Yola reps, correct me if I am wrong)

Sincerely,
Nathan

Hello Sean and Nathan,
When it comes to using your own forum, you would not be able to upload an existing forum into the File Manager. The options would be to either embed the forum on your site using the instructions Sanja gave above, or link to it.

You could link to the forum from one of your menu options if you wanted and have the menu link redirect to your external forum. Here is a link to some instructions: Redirect menu link.

I hope this helps!

Hi, a better way to redirect it is to click edit navigation and then on the navigation text put in

<a href="URL">Forum</a>

This will make it go straight to the forum instead of having the redirect page.

I have this on my site for the Forum, Blog and Status blog in navigation links: http://nathansmusicstudio.cz.cc

Hope this helps.
