Does yola support the If-Modified-Since HTTP header

In their Technical Guidelines for Webmasters, Google suggests:
Make sure your web server supports the If-Modified-Since HTTP header. This feature allows your web server to tell Google whether your content has changed since we last crawled your site. Supporting this feature saves you bandwidth and overhead.

Does Yola support this? I've searched the forum and not found any answers.

Thanks!! Maria

Hi there Maria,

Apologies for the delay. I am currently waiting for feedback from our technical team on your question as it is a server-level feature.

I do know we try to offer you, the user, the best possible SEO as we understand how important this is for a website.

As soon as I have a more definite answer I will let you know.

Hi Maria,

At Yola, we try our best to make sure your site's SEO is as finely tuned as we can manage. We set the If-Modified-Since HTTP header on all static content (resources, images, and so on) because we can be sure when they were modified, and can thus inform Google of the correct timestamps. However, your pages are dynamic - they often have widgets and integration with third-party sites that would change their content without you having to republish them. As such, it would hurt your site's SEO if we used the If-Modified-Since header to tell Google that they had not been changed when they might have been. Instead, we mark the page as fresh, so that it gets recrawled regularly.

The point is, we take care of all this server-side for you, so you don't need to worry about it :)
