Does Yola work with iPage and how do I take down WP and use Yola instead

iPage is my host and I also have a domain name I would like to use. How do I point iPage to Yola (or is it vice-versa?). Did I understand it correctly that in order to do this I must be a silver member here first? Before I pay for the silver pkg I just want to make sure that Yola functions with iPage and it isn't very difficult for this beginner to do. Also, I already have my site up and running using WP, but I like your options so much better and will need to discontinue WordPress first. I hope I'm no in over my head! Thanks

You should be able to point your site to Yola....Maybe you could share your site url first and let the staff and other site owners have a look at what you are trying to do.This way you can get some opinions to help you decide if Yola is a good fit for you....Yola Silver (yes you will need that) is easy to use by the way and lots of help offered on this forum.

The site that is up right now, using WordPress is fibromyalgianews.net. It is hosted by iPage.
I don't care for the limitations and layouts with WP, but iPage had it linked and loaded to them so it was easy to use.
I love the versatility and ease offered with Yola and like how the webpages I'm playing with look. So any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.
I have Fibro and my brain doesn't catch on to things as easily as it once did. Thank you!

Hello there,

John is correct. You will need to upgrade to Silver or you can transfer your domain to Yola so that we become your domain registrar. Please check out this tutorial for further information: Publish to a domain you already own.

I hope that information helps!

Sanja ~~ I appreciate the response. I guess it is as I thought it would be, too difficult for me to do on my own. Reading your tutorial is like trying to read and comprehend a foreign language.

Is there no one here that can do this for me? If keeping iPage and using Yola for building my website CAN be done great! If I have to switch my host to Yola, fine. But, I will need someone to do it for me. I do hope you understand. Wouldn't this assistance be part of the silver package?

I guess once an employee answers a question, it gets closed regardless of if the person still needs assistance. Now where do I turn?

Are you making a site using the free Yola account? If you are and you like how it looks ,functions and ease of use then publish on a free sub domain....If you decide on Yola come back to the forum and we can help you step by step. Not any of it is hard it is just information overload .

Thank you so much for responding, John. Yes, it is a free account that I am playing with. I published it like you have suggested using the free sub domain and it looks so much better than the other one I did with WP. I have a long way to go with it, but Yola makes it so much easier for me to do.
What is my next step? Should I purchase the silver package now so that I can access my domain name? Can I even access it from Yola now since I used Word Press already?
The sub domain addy is fibromyalgianews.yolasite.com if you need to know that.

Hi Adrianne,

Thank you for your email. I am sorry that you feel the status being changed to 'answered' we were finished assisting you - we will certainly continue assisting you until you are completely satisfied! (Thanks, John for the help as well!)

I am so happy to hear how well you are enjoying your free Yola site that you have published to a Yola subdomain. If you are interested in using your custom domain on this site, you have a few different options.

The first option would be to purchase Yola Silver, which includes domain pointing (as well as many other fantastic features). With domain pointing, you will need to ask your registrar to change your A Records to point to Yola's IP address: 184.72.229.176. The reason we cannot do this for you, even if you do upgrade to Silver, is because we do not have access to your DNS Settings. That is why we suggest you seek assistance from the support at your domain registrar who have this access.

Since you have a .net domain, another option you have is to transfer your domain to Yola, which will allow us to manage your domain and assist you with any changes to your domain settings. Please take a moment to read over our tutorial for further information in this regard: Transfer domain to Yola.

OK, thank you everyone. I think I'll stay with iPage and purchase the Yola Silver plan. I'll ask them to do what you mention above and then if I need any more help, I'll ask then.
Thank you again for your help and patience.
