Before you can set your preferred currency, you will first need to set up your Yola Online Store. Once you have done so, please follow these steps:
- Log in to My Yola.
- Click on "Online Store" in the left-hand menu.
- Click on "Advanced Options" in the bottom right-hand corner of your product list.
- Click "System Settings" in the top right-hand corner.
- Select "Formats & Units".
- Click on the "Currency" drop-down menu.
- Change the currency to the desired one (you can also change the weight unit (e.g., kg) and date in this menu).
- Click "Save" in the top-right corner.

I understand the frustrations that are associated with things not working as you describe. I feel for you on this issue.
Are you wanting some help to get this corrected? or have you decided enough is enough?
Gop.

I go back to beginning and press 'Online store'
It does 'store opening' and loads onto a products list page.
At the bottom of the 'products list' page is a 'back to the beggining' button.
When I click this it reloads the 'store opening' page then loads bak onto the 'produts list' page.
The recent pruchases page does not exist on mine.
And the 'online store' page keeps saying I have not added any purchases when I have.
I am on a laptop I only bought last year with windows 7, so there is no reason it should be doing this :( I have about 6 sites with yola and have never come up against such a headache before.
I want the store to work, as it is a feature I have been looking forward to. But for some reason mine just seems like it has bits missing compared to what others have :(

OK. For some reason your added products aren't being identified.
Can you add them very simply by name to your catalogue. You can come back later to fill in the missing gaps. Or better yet add 3 make believe products that you can delete easily later.
make sure you Save and then you should be able to Go Back to Beginning.
Sophie if you wish I can have a look in your site through your account. To do this means that I would have to log into your Yola account. I am happy to do this but understand if you don't feel comfortable with this.

I logged out and in a few times and finally it registered the products. I have now signed up with google checkout, but now it is not registering I have signed up with them lol. I put the merchant id in and merchant key. Should I select sandbox environment?
Then it wants me to choose australia post. But I live in the uk and will be using Royal Mail for my postage. Can I just choose not to use any of the options?
Thank you for your time and patience with me. You have been great x

I'm delighted that the gremlins went away!
You can always come back to the shipping and payment aspects later. I think it helps not to worry about these things at this stage and get your catalogue set up first. So don't set these options yet.
As far as setting a sandbox goes, with any gateway, is a very good step to do in the development phase as it allows you to go through mock-ups without really touching your account(s).

You need to access the price list for Royal Mail shipping(International and national).
If you can then send me a copy I will give you instructions and a mock-up of your shipping schedule. I could do a search but I don't know what the best site is for up to date info. You may like to call your postage people to find out. You could also tell them that you are creating an online store and will be shipping via their service and could they advise you of their online support services. I think this would be the best way to find out.?
When you find the shipping Prices can you also check to see if they have a shipping API. If this is too much jargon you can just find the website and let me know. I can work from there.
Let me know here when you have the info and I'll give you my email address. No rush for this on my side.

What the sandbox does is to check all the details and parameters and report to you if there are any problems or if the whole things flops over then you will not have a successful transaction but no harm done, when you do a trial transaction or two or three or fifty. None of the transactions actually are debited from your account .
Sandbox is a generic term for a trial process for transactions or running code in a safe and secure place.

I have noticed a few irregularities with the Online store this day so it may well be that something is being worked on and preventing access to parts of the system.
There hasn't been an announcement but that makes three of us with various dysfunctional aspects of our stores.
It will probably come good sooner or later but I hope sooner :)
Can you tell us if it's a GBBO or a GYBO plan?

If I spend the money will it work or will I have to spend hours fighting with it? Would Volusion be better?
Is there a trial run available? Any advice would be most welcome

I am using the system at this time and it is working. I'm not in the US.
I would expect that your experience with the Online Store would be free of such issues. Both Ecwid and Yola are stable platforms with occassional issues but I would say below others that I have used.
You asked about a trial run and yes Yola offer a 30 day refund which I was really surprised at. Not the fact that they offered a refund but the fairly extended time to get your head around the facility, is more than adequate. People with a web building awareness would be able to add products, a payment gateway and a shipping method within the day.
I haven't tried Volusion so I can't make any comparison.

Liam, I don't have much to add as Gop said it all better than I could have, but I did want to assure you that one of the main reasons we selected Ecwid as a partner was due to their ability to support our international members unique needs from shipping to currency selection. We hope your experience with our online store will feel simple and intuitive, but if by any chance you do experience an issue, we promise to address it promptly!

Have you tried the instructions directly above?
If you can point me to the instruction number that isn't working for you then I can offer specific help.
If the Online Store isn't what you want then Yola will give you a refund. They have a 30 day refund promise on this facility.
Here are a few more screen shots that may help you with this problem:
This is what you will see (or similar) after you select the Online store in My Yola.
If you now scroll to the very bottom of this page you will see "Advanced Options" at the bottom right hand side.
Then the next screen to pop up will be this one (or similar)
Now if you go to Step #4 above and proceed from there, I think you will be OK. Please let us know if you would like further help with this.

If you want to provide your website address, I can change the currency for you. If you still wish to cancel, please email support@yola.com and indicate the reasons you wish to cancel your online store and we'll be able to assist you further.

Why is no trial available? This makes me very reluctant to part with cash up front for an unproven product. If I put days of work into creating a shop how can I be assured it will work in GBP?
Is anyone in Britain actually running a fully functional shop on Yola and if so is it working properly in GBP without lots of messing around with post codes, currency etc.
Does the system handle UK postcode lookup properly?
Any help would be appreciated as without a trial there is no way for me to actually appraise it for myself.
Regards, Liam

What I can tell you for sure is this: there is a 3 step wizard you need to complete when you first create your Online Store. This can be done in a few minutes. Thereafter it is definitely possible, and easy, to change your currency to GBP. The instructions posted here do work. The biggest problem we have found is that people are not understanding that they first need to complete the wizard, and then they will be able to change their currency. We are looking into a way to automate this so that it detects your IP address and defaults to your local currency, but until we can do this I assure you that it is perfectly possible to do it manually. It also handles UK postal code look up properly.
In addition, while the Yola integration is new, I confidently say that Ecwid (the ecommerce solution we have integrated with) is far from unproven. You can see their showcase here: http://www.ecwid.com/demo/showcase/
I am not sure if there is anything else I can say to reassure you, but hopefully customers who have successfully set up their store using GBP will respond with their experiences.

Testing the Yola-Ecwid hybrid was very straight forward. There were and are no significant systematic or design issues with the hybrid store whatsoever.
Which do I prefer? I would say Yola simply because the setup doesn't require posting of multiple lines of code and the selection of categories for inclusion on a page of a store (if it's multi-paged) is much easier. The original Ecwid store required that you find the category code or number and this was quite an intense process. With the Yola-Ecwid store all this is performed graphically through the widget that appears at the appropriate time.
I think Mada Seghete, the person who lead this development, has done a fine job in getting this up and running with a very clear vision of what users want, understand and what they can deal with. The Ecwid product itself is truly top-notch and is within the goal of their dream of being the top e-com facility for widespread use in any kind of web-site.
The postal/logistics shipping plugins work and they are a godsend. I didn't have that benefit when I built the large store and the Zone and Shipping matrices were vast. Something in the order of 2000 entries. Royal mail doesn't have a public shipping API but rather a closed plug in for PayPal use. .

I have 2 questions:
1. How much is it per month - when I am editing my website it says $7. on the yola homepage it says $10???
2. if I buy this do I have several little stores on my webite (as I do now with paypal eg people shop for scarves/hand muffs separately or do I have to put everything onto one page (which I do not want to do)
Can anyone who is using this already please put a link to their website so I can see how it works.
Thanks!

The cost of the Store for Yola Silver and Bronze subscribers is publicised at $10 per month. There may be individual discounts which you may be eligible for (?)
The store layout is flexible. The easiest way to separate products is with a classification for example in your case you could have a category of scarves and a category of hand muffs.
When you apply your store you can select the category of products that you wish to display on a page eg: (Scarves) and then you would add another page for your other category, (Hand Muffs).
An example of such a classification where you can select the category or product type from a image menu in this example and the relevant store page will then open.

You can add categories later, yes. It's a simple thing to do and you do this from within the Store facility.
Without categories all products will be displayed on a page and that works for many kinds of stores or stores with a small inventory.
I don't know why the link doesn't work for you? It's not a problem try this one which is one step deeper in http://davidsorchids.yolasite.com/blo....
You can click on any of the products and it will take you to the selection process and a more comprehensive product description. You can go as far as adding it to the bag but I haven't enabled a payment gateway since it is a mock-up store.
The four top images are the selectable categories, the lower images are the products within the current category.

I've seen the example website, thanks.
Just one more question if you don't mind!! I was thinking about putting Sagepay on my yola website. If I get yola's online store is sagepay included in that package? I'm worried that I would pay out my $10 a month and then have to pay for another ecommerce package too??Or is it all included?
Thanks
Sally

One thing I will point out and it's probably known to you, almost regardless of the payment system there is a commission taken for the transaction. This is a function of the payment system and is notm shared or controlled with or by Ecwid or Yola. I guess it's just the standard procedure and taken from the transaction fee at some point.
Here is a list of various payment systems ready to go with the Online Store:
Online Methods
Credit Cards and payment systems
PayPal Standard and PayPal Express Checkout
Google Checkout
Authorize.Net SIM
Moneris SELECTplus (Hosted Paypage, Canadian accounts)
HSBC (CPI)
Beanstream (Hosted Payment Form)
eWAY (Shared Payments CVN / "Hosted Payment" page)
2Checkout
Network Merchants
e-Path / manual credit card processing
Robokassa (Webmoney, Yandex.Money, etc)
QIWI
Sage Pay (Form integration)
PayJunction
iDEAL (via Mollie)
MultiSafepay ( iDEAL, credit cards, Giropay, DIRECTebanking, etc)
Suomen Verkkomaksut Oy
iPay88
PayOnline System
Virtual Cart Services
Any payment gateway that can emulate Authorize.Net API
Offline methods
Check
Business Check
Fax ordering
Money ordering
Personal check
Phone ordering
Purchase order
Wire transfer
and any you like..
