Hello Jacob

The prices for domain extensions differ because of various reasons. Domains offered by Yola are based on general pricing of the market and are competitively priced.

The general difference between a .biz and a .ca domain is that .biz is a top level domain which is suitable for international usage whereas .ca is a country-specific domain extension for Canada which is best to use if you just want to address visitors within your own country.

Once you registered a domain, it cannot be changed or replaced. The only way to quit a domain is to let it expire. If you'd like to have a .ca or .biz domain, you will need to buy it additionally, but you can add multiple domains to one website. I'm afraid that the remaining regsitration time of your .com domain cannot be credited to the purchase of a new domain.

I'd suggest that you buy your new domain(s) and assign them all to your Yola website. This way everyone who has only known your .com domain, will still be able to find you online, and you'll have enough time to communicate to your visitors that your website will only be available under your new domain(s) from July next year.

Here is a link to our tutorial: Assigning domains and creating a primary domain.

It's a pleasure, Jacob. I forgot to mention: If you'd like to let your .com domain expire, you will need to send us a message to cancel auto-renewal for this domain. If you want to do this, please use our Contact Support Form. Don't forget to add your new domain(s) to keep your website online!
