I typed in my new domain name which I want to connect to my main site. I have pointed all the records to yola but it keeps on giving me "there was an error setting up your domain. Please try again" I keep on trying but still with no result. My domain is frodotraveller.com.au.

Kind Regards

Hello FrodoTraveller

It does not seem that you have set up any A Records. Please contact your domain registrar for further assistance. You can let them know that that A Records need to point to Yola's IP address 184.72.229.176. Please note that you will need 2 A records set up so that your domain will work correctly with the "www" prefix.

Hi again,
I have recently signed up with zoneedit and it has worked. I get a page saying "your domain is pointing to yola" but when I add it in the site builder it says that there was an error setting up my domain. I am a silver customer so I do not see why this is happening.
Kind Regards

Hello Amar,

Would this be for frodotraveller.com.au? There seems to be an A record setup for www.frodotraveller.com.au but not frodotraveller.com.au. Unless you've only recently made the change and it's still propagating?

It is still not working for me. I cant really understand the zoneedit tutorial in yola because it is a bit outdated. I am not sure what A records and stuff like that to add in because zoneedit is very advanced.
Kind Regards

Hello Amar

I'm sorry to hear that this is still not working for you. I'm sure that is quite frustrating, especially when our tutorial is a bit out of date. We try our best to keep up-to-date, but we are not always privy to when zoneedit makes their changes. I suggest checking out their support page http://zoneedit.com/support.html or contacting them at this email address: support@zoneedit.com. Let them know that another A record is still needed for frodotraveller.com.au.

I hope they will be of assistance to you!

Hi Amar,
Thanks for sharing the screenshot. All registrars work a bit differently and I can neither confirm nor deny that ZoneEdit requires an "@" and "www" for their A record fields. When looking up your domain information, I am seeing the following:

Please keep in mind that any DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate. If you have recently added this second A Record, it may just need a bit more time until I can see it. If 48 hours has passed and you are still unable to publish to your domain, please let us know!

Okay thanks, I thought there might only be an A record setup for www.frodotraveller.com.au and not frodotraveller.com.au because there is a Yola place holder page showing up on the www. one. Also, just for future reference, where is that lookup thing you use for domains?

Hi Amar,
Thanks for the message. the lookup we use for our domains is a private site created by one of our engineers that is only accessible via a username and password. We also use the 'terminal' program on our Macs on a regular basis. I look forward to hearing how publishing goes after your A Records have propagated.

Hello,
My domain is coming up with a "Your domain is pointing to Yola" placeholder page when I type in www.frodotraveller.com.au but not when I type in frodotraveller.com.au . Shown below is what my zoneedit record page looks like:

Any ideas?

Hi Frodo,

We have recently changed our ZoneEdit tutorial, so it may have been updated since you last tried to use it: http://www.yola.com/tutorials/article...

When I look at your domain's A records, you only have one A record for "www.frodotraveller.com.au", and there is no A record for "frodotraveller.com.au".

I can't see the top of your ZoneEdit page, but I think what may have happened is that you created the Zone for "www.frodotraveller.com.au". As per steps 5 and 6 from the tutorial, your Zone needs to be created for "frodotraveller.com.au" (without the www prefix). You can then create 2 A records for your domain.

I hope this information is helpful. If you could review the tutorial and the steps you have completed and let me know how it goes that would be very helpful.

Good luck!

Thanks,
Jackie

Hello Amar,
I am unsure if that is what this is supposed to look like, however Jackie would be the best person to look at this. She is not currently online, however I will forward this to her to look at when she comes back online again.

Hi Amar,

That looks correct, however I can't tell if the Zone that you created (steps 5 and 6) is for frodotraveller.com.au.

As yet your A records haven't changed, but if you still can't see your site after 24 hours could you send me an email at support@yola.com and we can discuss it directly.

Thanks,
Jackie

Hi Jackie,

When I type in frodotraveller.com.au it redirects to www.frodotraveller.com.au. On that page it has a Yola page which says "Your Domain is Pointing To Yola!". However, when I go in to my account and try to add it it says that it is not pointed.

Any ideas?

Hi Amar,

The reason that you can only see your site at www.frodotraveller.com.au is because you only have one A record which is set up for the "www" prefix.

If you could email me at support@yola.com I will talk you through setting up your Zone at ZoneEdit.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Jackie
