Hi there

I bought my domain through Yola a good while back and then transferred the domain to a different hosting company. I see on my yola panel that my domain has expired and now my website is down? So does this mean I have to buy the domain again and pay for Yola and my new hosting company?

Regards

Hi Bernhardt

I'd need to look up your Yola account in our system, but I wasn't able to find you using your forum e-mail. Can you please provide your domain name? Thanks.

Hi Bernhardt

Your domain is still hosted by us because it hasn't been transferred away, but is pointing to your other provider. If you have a domain with Yola, it means that we host this domain for you, so Yola will charge you for renewing this domain upon expiry of your registration period (annually, every two years, etc., depending on what time period you chose) and for your hosting package. This allows you to point your domain to another registrar/provider.

If you'd prefer to move your domain to your other registrar in order to have it hosted by them, please refer to our tutorial Transfer your domain to a new registrar. For any requests with regard to domain transfers, please contact us via e-mail using our Contact Support Form.

Your website is down because your domain has recently expired. Please log into your Yola account, click on "Domains" in the left-hand side menu, and click on "Try to renew". You will still be in a grace period to renew your domain if you do it now, and once it has been renewed, your website should be online again.

Hi Bernhardt,

I'm sorry to say you are not able to transfer an expired domain. You will need to renew it first following the directions Stefan provided above. Once you reclaim your expired domain you will be able to transfer it by unlocking it.

Great glad to hear that you were able to renew it. Have you tried locking and unlocking your domain to trigger the email to be sent again? Also be sure to check your SPAM folder. If that doesn't work, Support can send you the authorization code manually but you will need to contact them from the email address associated with the domain in order to verify domain ownership..
