hi, i am really pleased with the service you offer, i will probably upgrade my subscription to a silver package when my business is fully up and running. The 1 question i have is the domain name i have used, is this registered to myself or yola? what happens if i decided to host my webpage elsewhere in the future? can i take my domain name with me? also can i save a back up copy of my webpage? i am more than happy with staying with yola but just worried in the event of something happening or if your service stops.

hello Stephen,

The domain belongs to you and is registered in your name. You can transfer the domain to any registrar or point it to any other host at any time with the only constraints being those regulated by ICANN. Full instructions for the options are available freely in the tutorials section of the Yola site.

Unfortunately you cannot save a backup copy of your site. This is a Yola policy because of the burden of support requests previously for moving sites to other hosts, which it seems was a significant reason for taking backups. So it isn't really possible to host your Yola built site anywhere else. This policy may change in future but nothing has been mentioned at this stage. You can always put this forward as an idea for the votes on this aspect. It then simply becomes a record of interest.
