I wanted to have my new web address (www.lydialewisdrums.com) be for lydialewis.yolasite.com. However, when I type in the yolasite one, it goes to the lydialewisdrums one. How do I get the yolasite pages to show up? I want to type www.lydialewisdrums.com and have it go to lydialewis.yolasite.com.

Hi Lydia,

You need to set your yolasite domain as your primary domain. It sounds as if the custom domain is set as the primary domain, which is the most common configuration.

Following is the Yola tutorial on setting this up:
Assigning Domains and Creating a Primary Domain

It would be to your advantage to have your yolasite sub-domain as your secondary domain. This is due to the fact that sub-domains are less likely to be regarded as authoritative compared to custom domains.

Is the content the same in other words have you published the same site with both your yolasite sub-domain and your custom domain?

I did that but it still is going to the non-yola domain.

Did you publish the same site to both your sub-domain and your custom domain?

The domain transferred to Yola, shouldn't that mean it's only registered there?

If it was a transfer yes it is registered through Yola. If i was point3d then it will still be registered with your original registrar.

So my question is:

is your yola built website published to both your custom domain ie your non-yola domain and a yolasite sub-domain?

lets step back.

You have built a site with the Yola site builder and published it to a sub-domain called: lydialewis.yolasite.com

You also have purchased a domain from some where other than Yola as it sounds and this domain you have registered as: lydialewisdrums.com

Now from what I am reading you have transferred lydialewisdrums.com away from your initial registrar to Yola?

is this correct so far?

Hi Lydia,

It looks like you still need to point your domain.

Please take a look at this Pointing Tutorial, which will walk you through the steps you need to take.

I hope that helps!

Hi Lydia,

Your .com site is hosted by GoDaddy.

There is a CNAME set for your yolasite sub-domain.

I suggest that you contact GoDaddy for their advice on this. Their customer support is very helpful on these issues.

A second option is to remove all re-directs from the DNS management of both.

Then point your .com domain to Yola as directed above.

Then republish your yolasite to your .com and make the .com your primary domain with the yolasite being your secondary domain.

This will in effect mean that anyone who types in either your yolasite address or your .com address will see the contents of your yolasite displayed under the apparent address of your .com domain.
