Do Mx records have to be set before I carry my domain name over from another provider? as I have a contact form on my website.

Hi SarahS

If you currently have mail hosted on your provider, and you are happy with your provider and everything is working fine, then simply update your A record as per the instructions on publishing. Your domain will now point to your website on SynthaSite, and you e-mail will continue to work as it currently does.

If you are wanting to move completely off your current provider, you can look into hosting your e-mail through gmail via Google Apps (see: www.google.com/a/).

Hope that helps!

Hi SarahS

You will need to find an e-mail provider for your domain. Who did you register the domain through? It is possible that they can provide e-mail for you.

Failing that, Google Apps can also host your e-mail for you. To host your e-mail with Google Apps, sign up at www.google.com/a/.
From 'manage this domain' click on 'email' and follow the instructions to set up e-mail accounts and email hosting (you will be required to update your MX records).

Finally, if you do not feel up to setting up a complete e-mail system for your domain, you can always simply point your contact form at another e-mail address which you use. For example a hotmail (www.hotmail.com), gmail (www.gmail.com) or yahoomail (www.mail.yahoo.com) account.
