Domain privacy

I have asked a question about domain privacy for .co.uk domains a short while ago. I have received an answer but have a further question and really would like a reply as soon as possible. I don't know if I am doing the right thing by starting another question but here goes.

I would like to pay Yola for domain privacy for a .co.uk. domain and I have had the standard reply that .co.uk domains are not able to have privacy on their domain unless they are a non-trading individual, but it would appear that .com domains can.

I am just very confused why at least one other company provide domain privacy for consumers who register .co.uk names but Yola can not.

If I can't do this through Yola then can someone please advise me what I do now because I can not have my home address on the w.w.w.

I am going to choose another domain name to use to sell on line so can I ask to disassociate myself from this .co.uk domain and let it be put back out for someone else to use, or do I have to keep it for the 2 years and ask Yola to modify the records to say I am not trading with that name.

Thank you

Hi Jayn
The standard reply you have received is in fact the only reply regarding .co.uk domain names, if you are planning to make money from your .co.uk site than your details have to be made available, I would be interested to know who the other company is? because as with Yola, by UK law they are only able to offer domain privacy for non profit making sites registered as .co.uk.
Obviously the way round this is to purchase another domain name, I have a .org domain registered through 123 reg and have to pay extra for the privacy.
You will have to wait for a Yola rep to answer your last paragraph.

Hi David
Thank you very much for your reply. I am new to this and did look in to the privacy thing but obviously not closely enough.

This is one website I found www.ukreg.com/register-domains/domain...
Click on ‘domain privacy’ on the left. I don’t know if I am missing something when I read it but no doubt in the end it will say somewhere that it will only be for non trade only.
You live and learn as they say.

Fo now I just want to get my address away from public view

Hi Jayn
One point worth remembering is your details are not splashed over your site or in your source code the only way to find them would be to look them up in the Whois directory, so although they are public its only to anyone who specifically wanted to look.

Hi Jayn,

I have addressed your questions in this thread: http://forum.yola.com/yola/topics/dom.... Something that will help clarify this further is if you could let us know whether you have signed up for the GBBO program?
