I'd like to stop using yola for one of my websites, but I registered the domain through yola and I can't manage it through the registrar. Can I transfer my domain name to another registrar?

Hello kemurilover,

When you purchase a domain name from Yola, we provide you with full DNS management.

There are two options when you want to move your domain away from Yola:

Option 1: You can edit your DNS settings so that your domain points to your new provider. Depending on the host you're moving to, it would either be editing nameservers or creating an A Record. This means that you will still get a renewal reminder from us 11 months after purchase. If you choose this option, please view this tutorial: http://www.yola.com/tutorials/dns-for....

Option 2: We can release your domain so that it is transferred to another domain registrar completely. You will receive an email with a code from us that you can give to your new domain registrar. To unlock and transfer your domain, follow the steps on this link: http://www.yola.com/customer-support/.... Please note: Domain registrars require a mandatory 60-day waiting period between purchase and transfers. This is something beyond our control. If it less than 60 days since you purchased the domain from Yola, you will be unable to transfer it.

I hope that helps!

There are some financial issues that i did not understand from the question.
Especialy since Yola, stopped allowing us to publish the sites we build/host on her, on a domain name bought from another registrar.

So let me set an example so that you can answer.

Say I am a standard member (not silver) and I got a site, which was built and hosted on yola.

Then at some point i decide to buy a domain name for it, FROM yola. Then my site is published in www.myGloriousSite.com

Say after one year, ofter my domain registration has ended, i want to register it again to another registrar.

SO i go to MyUncles.com and purchase again the domain i used to own in the past (myGloriousSite.com)

Now, theoretically, my settings through yola, are still to point to www.myGloriousSite.com.

But My registrar is NO LONGER yola....

Would this work?

I mean would yola keep pointing my site to a domain she no loger registers (thus getting money out of it)?

Hello asgartha,
Good question, let's see if I can help!

If you purchase a domain from Yola we are your domain manager which means that we set up all of your records according to our hosting environment. If you were to let your domain expire at some point and then try to purchase it again from another registrar, or transfer it to another domain registrar completely, they would be your new domain manager and all the records would be set up with them. If Yola is not your domain manager, we do not manage any of your records. You can purchase a domain from Yola for a year and pay for it, then if you decide you no longer want that domain, you can let it expire and it will eventually go back into the pool of available domain names and Yola would not have any hold over it. I hope that helps to answer your question, if it doesn't please let me know.

Kind Regards,
Emmy
