Domain Upgrade...Help!

Hi,
I am going to upgrade my synthasite subdomain to my own domain name (with Yola) and would like to know exactly what I need to do... including my indexing with google etc..? My subdomain site is published and google states that some of the pages from my site are indexed but none of pages from my sitemaps are indexed in Google. Do I have to amend the sitemap details or/and what...how?....basically.

I'm not worried about removing the existing subdomain, if I have to, as it doesn't have the links added yet.

I'd appreciate it if someone will kindly walk me through the process.

Kindest Regards

Mark

Hi Mark

A good question. When you buy a domain from Yola we automatically do a 301 redirect from your subdomain to your own domain. So any traffic to your subdomain automatically gets redirected to your site's new home. This is part of the set up of your site when you buy a domain that we take care of for you. All you need to do is go ahead and buy the domain.

However, you will have to resubmit your site to Google Webmaster. For detailed, step by step instructions on verifying your site with Google Webmaster, see: http://www.yola.com/tutorials/google-...

Things to be aware of:
Make sure you include the "www" when you add your new domain name.
The URL of your site map is your domain name, followed by /sitemap.xml

There might be a bit of a delay before your site is re-indexed by the search engines, but it shouldn't take too long.

Thank you for your business! I hope I have answered your questions. If there is anything else you need, please let us know.
