Please...Is it possible to be able to duplicate a complete site and save it as something else?
This would be great if we liked what we had done as one site which we wanted to keep, but wished to do similar again, but change the variables inside it?
This would save an awful lot of time. Please, please??
I realise I asked this a few years ago (and others also asked ages ago). However, with all the changes Yola are adding thought this could be something added also??
Imagine it would be something that many people (plus of course myself!) would really appreciate.
This is logged as a feature request and it is something we hope to implement in the future but it is not currently planned. Our primary focus at this time is helping our customers increase the number of visitors to their websites post publish as well as streamlining actions in the Sitebuilder to make designing your website easier.
Hi Sanya, and others.... As you can see, I asked ths sooooo long ago. If we design for others then we need to be able to duplicate a site we have done when we have it available for viewing by clients, and then change for their own site. Surely this is not a difficult item to replicate. Other items have been added to Yola, which are complicated to undertake via the backend designers. Please can we have this facility? This addition would be beneficial to Yola as many more sites would be reproduced for clients etc.
Plus, of course, we need to duplicate our own site as a totally different one, but wish to keep the old one - this facility is essential. Presently am undertaking sites via DWeaver because of this non-duplication ability with Yola. Thanks all. j
In the past, my mind could grasp tech codes but since I had a brain injury ... it is very much limited.
So ... for me, having an ability to duplicate
1. Allows me to save an exact copy of my website in case it gets hacked or is trashed somehow. That way I dont have to start from scratch. At the moment, I have had to save the codes in folders because I really would not be able to redo the same thing if the need arose. So it is for peace of mind and ease of backing up.
2. I can easily carry over my customisations to a new design and then change the other bits to give the site a different character of its own ... but with the features I feel reflects me and my needs best (which none of Yola's templates provides without substantial customisations).
3. If I can just get the site done with ease, then I can focus on other business matters like working with my valuable existing clients.
For a web designer, I imagine they would be able to recreate the desired effect pretty easily but for someone who has a faulty mind ... having achieved the ideal recipe ... it is good to be able to fall back to it. I see it just like people being able to just select from your templates. When I can duplicate a site ... it means I can then select from my own customised template.
Hope my clarification helps. Thanks Laura.
Hello, and back again. Agree with Pollin, It really comes down to being able to copy one site across and then adjusting/amending it to make another, saving so so much work..
I am not a full on web designer, only doing so for people to help out and keep their costs down and this is only every now and then as am an artist. It took me forever to code my site, which now is old and needs total update will take me forever to do another site. Years ago, my original site was chosen as one of the best sites by Yola and took ages to do, and I used to comment and assist people when questions were asked. Since those very basic days, Yola has come on so much with the changes made, and have actually said this in past comments. However, seems to be dropping well behind in the scene of design, especially templates. Still keeping old fashioned ones for people to choose. Even the premium are not that enticing. We love what we have done and only wish ther ability to be able to duplicate what we have and then improve on it. Am sure web designers would love this feature also.... but the main people are small businesses (like myself), and their sites need to be changed at various times - this feature would be wonderful for all users of Yola.
All we ask is that we can duplicate a site we have done, and then be able to change it so basically the same with all the hardworked coding, but looks totally different. Remember coding is hard to work out from a site already designed (as in single users, not premium), as there may be 10 or 12 html boxes at the top and there is no way to tell which from which This surely is not hard to offer. Possibly for the free site maybe add an additional cost if wishing this ability added to that. Yola offers with silver ability to have 25 sites - and this would be amazing to have this duplication ability.
Surely this is logical?
Long wording I know, but just needed to add back in - See there are quite a few following this posting. Maybe they should also add comments in order to show how popular this would be? Fingers crossed?
Heartbreaking...especially after being with Yola so long, and recommending Yola to so many people now.
