I'm having to go into my online store to edit items is there an easy way to do this to a group of items or do I have to select each individually to edit.

When we sell a product (not via our store) I have to put the no available to zero and am having to do this individually at the moment which is taking quite a time

Hi Sue,

You can do this by a couple of ways.

The most direct method is to go to your store control panel:
select Catalog in the top bar and Products in the second line.
Then within the Filter line scroll over to the Category field with the drop down arrow and click on that arrow. All your categories will be displayed in a vertical list and you can scroll down to the appropriate category and select it. All the products including sub-categories will be displayed as a list and each are able to be selected for editing singly. This doesn't allow global changes but does make it easier for editing and then straight back to the same category for a different product selection.

The second way is to download the products as a CSV file and when downloaded open the file with Excel or similar. You can then edit that file with standard Excel operations. This is very quick data editing but does require a download then when complete a re-upload.

wrt inventory control the easiest way to do this is to use your Online Store as your stock record and even if you're selling the products by manual ad-hoc methods, to actually do the recording within your store. This will keep your stock levels in tandem and shouldn't require an additional process as you have suggested. Lots of other benefits as well including the ability to generate invoices etc. You may consider another payment method and call it Offline Payment or Phone Orders for example, then configure the payments as you would normally process them manually. You can also setup additional shipping if these orders were despatched by some other process.

Happy to go into specifics if you want further detail.
