My website won't open for editing since the new name change to Yola. The page just keeps loading, but does not open.

Hello Tracey,

Could you try to clear the cache of your browser. This fixes most occurrences of this problem.

Get back to us if it's a useless suggestion :)

I have done what you have suggested Peter, but I still can't open my edit page. I turned on my other PC and have no problems opening there, seems to be a problem only on my laptop. But as this is the main computer I work on I do need to open my site here.

Thanks for getting back Tracey,

Can I ask what browsers you're using? Any browser or system updates on your laptop? Anything different between the two computers?

I may not be able to give you a solution now. This info can possibly give a lead for others to pursue.

I will keep looking and thinking though.

Hi Tracey,

Is your site published? Can you post your URL so that we can take a look - it may tell us why your site doesn't open.

Clearing your cache and trying a different browser or computer is usually our first advice (thanks Peter!) If you don't have Firefox, you can download and install it from this link: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/

If neither work, please come back to us with your URL.

Hi Peter and Marije
Not sure what you mean by published? Is that where it is able to be googled? If so then yes it is.
I use explorer 7 on both computers, and have never had a problem before. I don't want to have to use firefox..so that is not an option. This is my site... http://cibachromeimages.synthasite.com/
This opens fine, but when I go to the bottom of the page and click on the link that leads to the edit page, then click on open my site...it does not open.

Hi Tracey,

Nice site!

I went to the link and clicked. Got to the Yola page and it allowed me to login which is what you have found on your desktop.

If you close your browser open it up again and go straight to Yola.com, can you log in from there?

Thanks Peter

I can log in ok, but when I click on the open link I have the problem. All it does is continue loading and loading, but the edit page will not open.

Same thing happened when I opened a new broswer.
Its only happened since the name changed to yola...everything was fine earlier this week.

Hi Tracey

This is a heavy fix.

You've tried to clear the cache and that hasn't worked. It's specific to this computer and we know that the site functions.

You will loose add ons etc but it is an almost guaranteed way of getting back control of your browser.

Go to the Tools icon far top RHS

Then select:

Internet Options

Then
Advanced

Then
Reset

This resets many aspects of your browser including all temp files, passwords I think,

Well Peter...nothing is ever simple when it comes to me LOL
My browser is now looking better (ta) ...but still can not access my edit page!
All I get still is "loading yola" in red in the middle of the page.
So still no change.

Wow,

This is a very persistent one Tracey.

OK. One more time try clearing the cache.
can you also check your firewall and add yola.com to the allowed list...... Very, very long shot and doesn't make sense I know.

If it doesn't work then could you do one thing also and download Firefox onto your laptop. It won't cause a problem having the two browsers (I have 4 at this time) then you can check to see if your site is available there. I think it will be and I really do hear what you say IE as your preferred browser. It may get you out of the woods in the shortrun.

You are quite patient. It's a virtue you know :)

Hi Tracy,

If you can load your site on one computer but not on another, then I think it could be a problem with your browser settings. You may want to check the following:
- Check your privacy settings. You must accept cookies from Yola. Please click on this link to find instructions for accepting cookies with your browser: http://www.google.com/cookies.html
- Make sure your cache is cleared (Peter's given some good steps above)
- Sometimes it helps to close and restart your browser

Let us know how it goes.

Patients is a virtue...I know...being single for 8 years...I wonder if thats a good thing??

I use kerio firewall, so will look at that, not sure I know how to add a site. Since the changes I have made I can longer get into the flash chat forum I use either...ggrr

Darn it...firefox worked...so what the probs with explorer????
