Hello Michael,
Domain pointing is not available any longer with the free Yola account, this is now only available with the Yola Silver account. If you upgrade to Yola Silver you can point and publish to as many domains as you would like. Please note that any domains you currently have pointed to Yola can remain pointed indefinitely. This is something we have to do in order to remain a viable business due to greatly increased costs to us to provide the level of security and stability necessary for a service of our size.

Kind Regards,
Emmy

I'm an existing customer - and it was explained that the changes would not affect us. But when I unpublihsed my site (because it wasn't republishing properly earlier) and now want to publish again it isn't giving me the option of using my domain name. dyfedwynroberts.org.uk

Well here what I been doing with yola for a long time. I use it for building websites for people who want some thing simple and easy. So I charge a small feel. around $75. I give them a free domain and say free hosting with yola.com. I have done about 70 websites in the last year. I'm going to say about half removed the yola logo from the bottom. I was just following Yola Experts Program. I was now going to build a website that showed my work and really make this into a business. But it makes it really hard if the fees are $30 bucks for a domain/ transfer.

Heres a link to the business I was about to start:

I was about to connect it to may domain, when I found that you can't any longer.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for explaining the impact that our package and pricing change has affected your business. The scenario you explain above is actually indicative of one of the reasons why we needed to adjust our package pricing. We love to hear success stories of designers using Yola to create websites for customers and then successfully handing those sites off to be maintained by the business owners. We designed the YEP program around that very concept. Still in your current business model, if you are purchasing domains for your customers from a third party registrar and pointing it to Yola, we do not feel that is the best experience for your customer. When domain management and hosting are both managed by Yola we believe we can offer a superior experience for your customers. Plus that purchase empowers us to continue offering free sitebuilding and hosting for customers who need it. Perhaps you could consider increasing your fee to $100, still a very reasonable price for a professionally designed website with a custom domain, and purchase the domain from Yola. We feel with this scenario we all win!

Here is the problem. a lot of my customers have already paid for their domain from other providers. If I transfer the domain it cost $30 bucks with a yola logo on the bottom. No one is going to want to pay to be branded.

Hi Michael,

That is a valid concern that we have passed on to our Product and Executive teams. There has been some discussion about introducing a lower level package that might potentially include the Yola Link removal again, and this is a good use case for how it might be utilized.

If I update to yola silver. If I build 25 websites, can I point a domains frombother site godaddy etc? I think I can just raise my rate a little and still build sites for people with yola.

You do receive unlimited domain pointing with Yola Silver, so in theory, yes you can point 25 domains to 25 different sites within one account. The one concern I would raise is that it does not allow you to transfer the site to your clients for future maintenance and updates. Perhaps your service includes updates after the site has been completed, but I just want you to be aware of that limitation.
