Hello wendy,
I responded to your first thread but glad I can see this one.
Can you tell us how you have set up the email subs to your blog. What facility have you used?
Will try and help with this one.

I'm lost on this wendy,
Is this a third party add-on or am I totally in another world?
How did you add that facility?

Hi Peter. I simply set the hyperlink up on the editing page of the blog in synthasite as text - it then opens a page asking if it is an email, http or other link. It was all done on the synthasite page. There was no html coding required at all.

OK. I've got you.
Unfortunately that's not a link for this type of application that's how you setup links to bring material onto your page.
If you go to Littleus' answer she has the perfect solution for you. 2 options. This will get you going in seconds.
Thanks for sticking with us on this so far.
Good luck and over to littleus

Hey Wendy
I just want to be sure I understand your predicament here. If I understand correctly, you want people to subscribe to your blogs. You have set up a subscription button which allows people to enter their e-mail addresses. In return, whenever your blog site is updated, an email goes out to your subscriber letting them know when your blog has been updated?
You are the person who is handling the e-mail list right? Where is this list found? I would assume that the site where you are collecting the email information would be able to show you if people are subscribing. Depending on the way it is set up, the e-mails be either sent directly to your e-mail account, or may be collected at the host site.
I have no idea if I helped at all! But, please do continue to ask questions or to clarify things. The people here at Synthasite.. soon to be known as Yola.. are a great source of help!

Hi Littleus. Here is what I have done: I set up a spot on the site that says "Subscribe to this blog via email" - when a person clicks on the hyperlink - it sends an email request to be added to the subscription to the email address I have set up in the link. What I need to know is why, when a new posting is added to the blog, does it not go to the subscribers? I've seen this work on other sites where an autoresponder email goes directly to the subscriber. Is there a way for this to be done on Synthasite (soon to be Yola)? I cannot find anything there on the blog that explains this to me. I hope I have clarified the somewhat murky issue here. Thanks again for all your help!

Okay.. I understand now..... You need to use a program that reads your rss feed so that whenever it updates, it automatically sends out an e-mail to people. A couple suggestions are:
Mailchimp.. which can also be integrated with Wufoo forms (available on our sidebar options in our site editor)
Another one is Googlefeedburner
Does this meet what you are looking for?

Hi Wendy,
We're not ignoring you. promise!
I've asked some others to have a look at this with you. I think they;ll be apparent shortly. I'm sorry that it's taking a little to work out. Probably a very easy fix.

Hello Wendy,
Littleus is correct. When you add a Subscribe the this Blog to your site it is set up so that when you post a new blog post, the people who have signed up with be notified. When you created the link "Subscribe the this blog via email" that does not automatically connect to your blog.
The idea behind an RSS feed and why it is attractive to people (people are signing up the your RSS feed when they click on the Subscribe to this Blog widget integrated into the blog feature) is that users don't have to give their email; and many people don't want to give out their email address.
An option would be to have your opt in list of people who have subscribed to your Blog via email and you can manually send them your blog updates; and then also have the automatic updates for those that have subscribed to your RSS feed via the specific widget.
Hope this helps!
Emmy

Hi wendy,
You can probably tell that this is an unusual request. {How dare you? :) }
Littleus had found new information that has been added since the last time the question was asked on this forum.
You can have readers subscribe to your Blog by email. Emmy's advice still stands and her alternatives are valid.
Google has relatively recently acquired Feedburner. Apparently not an easy transition as many services simply were pulled but email subscription remained. BUT it doesn't appear to be a reliable service with many outages and problems it seems. I wouldn't touch it
mailchimp on the other hand has a service that seems easy to use.
you may want to look at http://www.mailchimp.com/features/ful...
and here it says very clearly in its list of features:
"RSS-to-Email Updates
Set up MailChimp to automatically scan your RSS feeds and send emails to your list whenever you publish new content to your blog or website. Instead of sending plain-text emails like most RSS-to-email services, MailChimp uses a stylized HTML email template, designed by you. Learn More→"
Littleus had picked up on that perfectly so ignore us and follow Littleus.

Thanks Peter for giving a more thorough report. I'm not very good at that. This will hopefully give Wendy some direction.
