Exchanging weblinks between the Yola community of websites

Hi
I'm sure this idea has been suggested many times before, but I don't see anything on it.
I find it difficult to get the websites I want to put my site on their "Links" pages - not because they don't like my site (I get lots of compliments, and the people I'm talking about are things like B&Bs and local businesses, whose websites I've linked to on my site), but mainly because these people just don't know how to add a link to their own sites, or have lost touch with the person who built their site.
I know the importance of having good links between websites, and my idea is this: how about Yola making it possible to search for similar/related websites, such that a web-owner in a given field could contact a relevant other Yola Web-owner, and exchange links? For example, my own site, www.AughrusPeninsula.com, is a site that describes the amenities and activities and beauty of an area in Connemara, Ireland. I would happily add links to my "Links" page, to other relevant websites - for example, ones that were about wild flowers, or shore birds, or kitsesurfing...
So if there was a really good advanced search facility within Yola, which would allow a web-owner in the Yola family to identify relevant websites, then we could build a network of mutually beneficial links between Yola sites.
Maybe this facility already exists? I think it would be useful....

Hello heather,

There isn't currently a facility to search for like websites on Yola. Your idea is good for the sake of building a resource for linking to websites.

Reciprocating website links have little/no advantage in the game of SEO and is at best ignored by search engines because there is no provable acknowledgement of quality. It's seen as a manipulative ploy.

One way links have a much better influence particularly if they are links by a high rating site. I think that your idea has benefit for non-solicited links rather than exchanged links for this purpose.

Hi Gop

Thanks for that. I hadn't been aware that reciprocating website links is disliked by search engines, so I've learnt something.
But yes: apart from that, I'd love the facility of finding other Yola links that are close to my own topic. I think I came across some kind of search facility by gategory in Yola, but it wasn't focused enough to be helpful in that way. Mine is a tourism website for a community/area, and I'm sure there must be others about similar things. Being able to ,ook at them would give me good design/content ideas.

Thanks again

Heather

Hi heather,

I agree there are lots of advantages outside SEO directly for knowing like categories as you have mentioned.

This could become available with the pre-selection of industry requested for new sites when establishing a new site with the Yola builder. Here's hoping!
