External Links Function no longer works after Yola Upgrade.

The function for entering and posting external links no longer works after Yola was updated. Please restore this function. When I paste my link in the external links box, it is not recorded as a link on my blog. I then return to the Links function and find that the external links field that I pasted my link into is now empty. It happens over and over. I think this function is broken.

Hi, just did a test and it seems to be working fine. Are you doing the linking correctly?

Hi Rynaldo. I'm still having the problem. I have successfully been making links since February by highlighting a word in my blog, clicking on the link symbol and pasting a link in the box called, "External Link" and then clicking "OK". I should see that the highlighted word is now blue, but that doesn't happen anymore. And there is nothing in the External Link box when I go back to check the link.

Do you save it once created?

Just go and try this again. However, do note the following (something i have noticed with creating links on Yola) .... In some ways during linking, everything seens fine, BUT when tested, the link apepars not to be clickable. I find that you carefully highlight the desired text (having your mouse pointer from the end of the text to the front works best), proceed as you normally would, instead of selecting/ticking the external link box, rather click on the external link TEXT, paste your URL (make sure it contains the http:// protocol), save, and then preview. let me know if this works

Where do I find "External Link Text"? I never click the little box, I always paste the web address including, "http://" into the "External Link" field. I even tired typing it in instead of pasting it in and it didn't work.

Maybe that is the problem. When you paste the link into external link, (on the left side) you will see a little tick box to select 'external link' - have you ticked this box?

I click on the "OK" button at the bottom of the "Choose A Link" box. But the link does not appear in my blog anymore. And I save my blog by clicking the "OK" button at the bottom of the blog (which is now much further away from my blog.) Like I said, I've been successfully creating links this way for at least 7 months. but even after saving and posting my blog, the link does not magically appear.

It is really hard to save when no matter how many times I try to create it; it doesn't get created.

What are the steps you recommend for creating a link? Would you like to check my web account?

if Mozilla, i can already tell you its most likely to give trouble. in this case, do this entire process in internet explorer and see if that works.

I work in Mozilla. I'll try Internet explorer, but my computer guy says that Internet Exporer is really bad to use. I'll try it right now and let you know.

Wow, It works in Internet Explorer. I'm a bit disappointed, but glad I can make links now. Thank you for your patience and hanging in there with me. Have a nice day, Rynaldo.

Super ! Glad i could help. Remember, (i believe) that Mozilla takes a while longer to adapt to any updates on Yola than Internet Explorer. Please don't forget to mark this thread as Solved (a rating will be nice :)

Hi Jean,

We are currently experiencing a bug with the link feature on our blog in the Firefox browser. The engineers have been notified of this and are currently working on a fix. We'll keep you informed when there has been progress on this. Apologies in the meantime for the inconvenience!

Hi Brianna,

Already fixed. Despite the fact that this may be 'bug' related, i personally find that this has been a very long issue regarding the Firefox browser in general. This problem occurs at least once a week. However, its all sorted now :) Thanks

Hi,

Just for interest sake :) LOL why is it that when someone resolves a problem in here (other than a staff member), it is always captured as " Brianna * (an employee) just solved a problem ??? (as seen on my dashboard)... just very interested ... do we get recognized ?

Hi Rynaldo,

Only Yola staff members can mark problems as solved, ideas as implemented or questions as answered, but everyone can rate your replies as helpful, as Jean did above.

Our whole team moderates this forum so Brianna isn't the only staff member you'll see marking questions as answered or problems as solved if you continue to participate here, but it doesn't mean we don't give credit where it's due. When no reply is needed from us, we'll still mark the problem as solved and we do our best to give a "star" to the member who provided the correct answer! We appreciate your interest and participation here.
