Slow down guys, don't panic...

Do the math, my TravelSA website has 70 pages so far and it takes up less than 9Mb. If you get 1024 Mb free that means I can have approx. 7965 pages. Not in a million years will my site get that big.

And then you can have 5 sites in an account...... that = 39,822 pages.
And it's for FREE. Still an excellent deal I think.

Our great host also needs to make some money don't you think?

Hi Alex,

As an existing user: please take note that if you are over the site or storage limit none of your sites or files will be lost! You will be able to keep everything as part of your free account. However, should you require additional sites or storage you will need to upgrade.

Whats to stop someone creating numerous accounts with different emails?

Like Boomer says - the 'limits' are still really high.

I have 400 pages and i apparently only use 8mb of space - with a 1GB max there is still more space than i would ever need.

I like it. The .js, CSS and html file extension uploads is the best thing to come out of today.

There is nothing to stop people doing this, but we do not encourage it. If people create multiple accounts to abuse our system (create spam or phishing sites) we will take action against them. If they have a legitimate reason for needing more sites and storage we would prefer them to contact us so that we can take this need into account as we develop further.

Hi All

I am going to respond on this whole thread instead of responding individually:

1) If you are upset by these changes, by all means let us know so that we can help you out. But please remember our Community Guidelines and keep the language clean. You guys have some good words in your vocab and you don't need to resort to swearing.

2) We did our studies on this very carefully and set our limits extremely high. More than 98% per cent of people are nowhere near the storage limit. We have to balance the limit between individual file uploads and total storage. We have received a lot of feedback that people want to upload files bigger than 15MB, and so we have increased the filesize limit to 100MB for pro users. However, this does mean limiting the total storage per site, mainly to protect us from spam and abuse of our servers, and make ensure that we can scale to host all user sites. However, we have tried to ensure that most people will not be affected, and if they are they have the option to upgrade.

3) Storage and sites are only one aspect of the Yola package. There are a number of other valuable features that we are including, such as the HTML uploads, a premium style, Yola link removal on free styles, and credits for value-added services.

4) I need to stress again that we are not taking sites or storage away from anyone. However, if you need more sites and storage you will need to upgrade.

@Alex: pages per site are unlimited and we have no plans to ever limit pages. With regard to sites, if you have more sites than a free account allows and you delete a site, you will not be able to create a new one without upgrading. So my advice to you is to change the pages on your existing sites, but not to actually delete any sites.

Just to clear this and also for the record.
I have multiple accounts for my various sites:

- TravelSA (main site)
- Heldeberg.cc (sister site of TravelSA)
- Admin site (central to the travel sites)
- 2 x sites for hosting iframe's (for the above)
- 2 x future "booked" sites (for the above e.g. SouthAfrica.yolasite)
- 4 x business sites
- forsite
- 2 or 3 test sites?
- 1 x site for "makeover" site
- 1 x new site for YEP

I don't want to be accused of "creating multiple accounts" or "abusing the system" in the future! Date stamp please.... :-)

I will happily sign up for a pro account. I'm just waiting for a premium style that I can transfer the two travel sites to, without having to redo all my work.
Kill two birds with one stone ;-) I love the new ability to upload CSS, HTML and javascript. This is specially nice for updating CSS drop down menu's globally.
Mmm... now I'll still have to go back and change all my menu's.

We do not regard your multiple accounts as an abuse of our system in anyway, shape or form. The "abuse" we refer to is when people create spam bots to make many accounts or sites for spam purposes. Did you get our email regarding the pro account?

Thanks smithy! We appreciate the apology and hope we can work things out in a way that makes everyone happy with their Yola account, and with the way things are done in this community.
