Featured site and template questions

I was just taking a look at one of the featured sites on the synthesite homepage, taicookingcorner.com, and noticed that they were achieving something that I was hoping to do, but so far had not found anything within the sitebuilder to do so:

They have placed boxes with a shaded header bar around many of the different sections within their homepage. Is this a feature that is available within synthesite or is this something that has been achieved using html?

In addition to this question, is it possible to alter the templates using css or html?

Is it possible to upload one's own template but use all the other site builder features?

Thank you.

Hi gaijingirl

The person who created that site did use HTML and CSS to modify the template, but she used one of our existing templates. Right now it is not possible to upload one of your own templates.

However, we are working on adding more and better templates with more customization options and we hope these will allow you to achieve the desired results without having to write HTML or CSS.

Hi Jon,

Featured sites are ones that the art department and marketing team feel best reflect the features that SynthaSite can offer. You've taken the first step by letting us know about your site :) the rest is now up to them.

Gosh, is any progress being made in this area? I am an artist and really can't continue here unless the templates can be altered or a blank, with a choice of background color and image, can be provided. This is the first host I have encountered that does not offer that feature.

Hi 1331

We believe that progress is being made. However, much of this is in the background as we work on the structure for more flexible and customizable styles. Once this is in place it is our intention to accelerate our delivery in this area. We want to do as much as we can in the coming months. I understand your frustration and disappointment and thank you for voicing it here. We realise that unless our styles improve, people like yourself will not be able to make use of our service and this is a matter of great concern to us. We would like to serve the artistic community and other communities that require flexible and customizable styles. We hope that you will bear with us awhile longer while we continue to work in this area, although we recognise the growing urgency as time passes.

Our entire company receives notifications when people post on this forum and I trust they will take note of what you have said here.

Hi 1331,

We hear your pain and that of the many other customers who have expressed the same. We're working on it and aim to amaze you with a new series of templates with new looks and feels as well as new options for customization.

I can't give you a specific date when these will be live, but expect them within the next 2-3 months.

Thanks for your feedback.
