Festive Christmas flash backgrounds for your website. A Honey Bear Playhomes Tip...

So I thought I would pass along some holiday cheer and gift some transparent flash backgrounds that I made with my banner maker.

I coded the script to be under the page objects but over the style background so that you can make your site background any color or image you want and yet still have a cool second layer with some action under your page content.

Simply find a style that you like and copy the one line of code at the bottom of the page and paste it into an HTML widget on your site.

I made the SWF videos all 1920x1200 pixels to ensure that at whatever resolution your page is viewed at it will be seen and not cut off on the side.

Amazingly enough, the SWF files are no larger than 2 to 4 KB which allows for a quick page load for your viewers. Unlike many of the snowflake scripts out there these flash files load and run much quicker.

I used a transparent image for my banner to show the action behind the letters but you can use any banner that you create. Just remember that the banner will always be on top.

PS. The timing of the Christmas contest was most serendipitous as I was planning this for days. I hope that you all enjoy the flash backgrounds... I will be adding more later.

Happy site building
Ed

Oh, Ed, you always surprise me! Though the translator doesn't work perfectly yet, I appreciate your kind Hungarian answer.:) I wish to use one of your background Flash files for my Santa Workshop site for the challenge at the first place.:D

Yeah, Google translate was, is and always will be incorrect on its translations. I had hoped that in the year since I last used it that it would have been better. ;)

Good luck with your entry. I can't wait to see it.

Seeing as how I am not gonna make a site I might post some cool places to get Christmas clip art when I have time... ;)

Hi Ed, the backgrounds look really nice - I like the twinkle one. Can you use the flash backgrounds for a page but also still use the falling snow html to go over it? Or would it take too long to load - I'm just getting greedy now!

Sorry Chief, I think that for that I am gonna have to edit the JS files. They all are the same except the url for the flash file and to use two overlapping I need to change the code a bit for each one. No time now but I might be able to this weekend.

I stand corrected. You can add as many features as you like. Just add the code at the bottom of the page to a new HTML widget.

This one has four at once...

Hello again Ed, Do you have a code to make the effects go over a page rather than behind it? I like the first Holly one and the blue 1.

Sorry Chief but if you were to have the flash on top then your visitors could not click your links or buttons. I purposely layered it above the site background but below the pages content to allow for access to that content. If not, it would be a page without the ability to go anywhere and truly a one page site.

I created the flash videos at 1920x1200 and coded it to fit on all sized screens but not show the unused portion (larger than your monitor resolution) of the flash for those viewing on a smaller resolution monitor. Change your resolution to 1920x1200 or 800x600 to see what I am referring to. Pretty cool that way huh...

If you like, you could use the holly1, blue1 and white3 but change the color of the flakes of (white3) to blue by editing the code I have shown that way you have at least one feature on top. White3 is actually all javascript and not flash. I wanted to add it to give everybody that option as well.

PS. I used Superlogo for the lettering on the example site banner. The backgrounds are default set to transparent. Piece of advice... On certain fonts add a blank space before and after your text to ensure that the letters on the ends are not chopped off on the sides.

Just added a 5th realistic snow flash background that falls, sticks and then melts. Looks better on a solid(ish) color background.
