We are not currently experiencing any technical issues that would affect your file manager.
There could be a couple different possibilities for why this is occurring:
1. I am wondering what are your image file sizes? Sometimes if they are quite large, the file manager will freeze. I recommend trying to keep the file size to 100kb or less.
2. Another possibility is if you edited your picture using Photoshop. The problem could be that the images have a CMYK color mode attached to them - which is not web friendly. You should be able to set your color mode to RGB-16bit and you will then be able to upload them. An easy way to do this is instead of just selecting "save", choose "save for web" in Photoshop. The image will then be automatically saved in the correct format.
If none of suggestions resolve the issue, then can you please also try clearing the cache in your browser to see if this makes any difference? Here's a link on how to do this: How to clear the cache in your browser
