File Manager - folders - importing banners/backgrounds

OK. here we are again. No more from me for a while. But just another question/suggestion:

Changing banners/backgrounds File Manager:
When now changing above, and go into the 'browse' etc part, is it possible to be able to have ability to also add another folder at same time, so that we may have ability to transfer file we are importing into the folder we now wish it to go into. As now, it just goes into where it either is coming into or the folders we already have.
But... we may just wish to start another new folder? As before. In fact exactly the same as when importing images.

Oh.... secondly..
when we have imported a banner or small something. It now sometimes appears on a coloured background in the File Manager, so looks as tho we have the image on a coloured page!!
Whereas before it was just the image. Quite annoying this one.

Then... lastly..
Am I missing something somewhere (probably am) but is there an option not to have a banner at all?? So we could have the background appearing with something we like at top instead? Probably something somewhere to allow us to do this, but not sure?

thanks. J

Hi JC,

There is a different dialogue available when you add a banner to your page as opposed to when you upload files to the File Manager. At this time when you change the banner image it is not possible to create files and move them around, but I can see how this would be helpful.

Can you show me an example of what you mean by "there appears a colored background in the File Manager". I did just check the File Manager and uploaded some files and everything appears to be on a white background for me. You did say a small file, how small was the file you uploaded?

There isn't a way right now to remove the banner area completely as this area is part of the style as a whole. There are a few styles that don't have a banner area such as CleanSlate, however, for the styles that do have a banner area this area is set.

Hope that answers your questions!

Emmy, thanks. by small file I just meant normal images etc. I was playing around just to see what looked ok etc, not really planning anything and bringing in different images. I had save them all as normal and was only the image, ie maybe a banner or perhaps a background (the background was around 300 x 2000 (as wanted certain image to go across page). So all saved as normal. Have tried again today and same thing has happened so have taken a 'screen shot' and uploaded for you to see. But, this time it does not happen on every image. so am quite perplexed??
You can see the bright blue top and bottom with black in centre, well that is a jpg and is a banner with no blue anywhere on file, the same with the all black one at bottom, that is totally only the red top with black under so like a black line going down the page with top little red bit - no black either side at all. This is what was happening in another site I was doing and I was getting my images appearing, but they also had as tho they were on coloured backgrounds????? Is anyone else getting this. have tried it on different testing sites am doing and same thing happened.

Hello JC

That is quite odd! I'm wondering if it has to do with your Flash or Java not being up-to-date? Can you please try updating those to see if that helps?

Here's the links:

1. Update your Flash: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewC...

2. Update your Java:: http://www.java.com/en/download/manua...

It may be the java, as that does need updating. Will give it a try. Flash is all ok.

Sanja, this is still doing it. My whole machine is uptodate!!! It actually is annoying to me, and now I see someone else has posted the same !
Please can someone look into this. It does not matter, which browser I use.
As when importing it leaves the coloured bits behind the files !!
please can you look into, thanks. JC

Hello JC

Do you mind posting the image you uploaded to your File Manager? I'd like to download it and try! I know that this is frustrating. I'm not sure where you see someone else having this problem? Could you please point me to that thread so that I can see if I can gather more information? I hope to get to the bottom of this.

Sanja, I did post this under another comment -

File Manager - When importing images, coloured backgrounds appear?.

Was still getting those coloured areas. It does not relate to one particular file. It is all of them. So what I posted as picture relates to all files that are small and brought in. it banners, images, etc.

So, that was happening yesterday still.
John M said (on other post) was because they were gifs or transparent backgrounds. But tried the different ones (gifs/transparent in PShop) yesterday and still 'coloured' edges. This morning did another trial of bringing in from PShop and saved files with transparent backgrounds and then coloured backgrounds, put images in then saved (as I did yesterday).... Now they are all working OK. This is quite amazing. Although yesterday, my images were appearing without 'handles' on them when brought in from the toolbar (not picture widget) - then all appeared back with handles on later on. Somewhere a glitch!?
Anyway for the moment back to normal. Very strange.
Thanks again Sanja - hopefully all ok again.

You can remove the banner image. If you go into the Custom CSS editor, copy your CSS from the Site CSS tab and paste into the CSS editor, locate where it says

Banner
height: ___px

change the value to 0 and it should remove the banner. If you need anymore help, just let me know.

Andi, thank you for this. Was also wishing to remove banners. At moment not on the silver as am waiting for end of this fin.year (March) and will purchase then. so.... shall keep this and will utilise at that stage. Am ok at inserting coding/scripting, but not at writing it. so just may take you up on your offer. Again thank you.

coloured backgrounds appear when small images are brought into File manager??
Hi Yola team and Sanja. Please can you see my posting under File Manager - folders - importing banners/backgrounds. As the title now should be different. When importing images, I still get the coloured bits 'filling' in the white space showing in my files when imported.
ie as per image below ... if I bring in a narrow banner, it appears with colour either side???? Have updated everything on machine, ie java, flash as was suggested, but still doing it ???
thanks
JC
