Flyover Menus for Yola Silver Customers - any update?!!

Can you please advise when flyover menus are going to be enabled for premium style sites? I understand that the free styles now have this functionality (as per your blog on October 20 2012 named 'Introducing Flyover Menus') however I cannot see anywhere that it has been offered to paying members of Yola? It does seem a little crazy that people who are paying a monthly subscription aren't offered this very desirable feature, particularly when competitor sites such as Weebly offer this as standard. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.

Hi minnie14,

I do not have an update to share about when flyover menus might become available for Premium Styles. You can read more about the status of this feature on this thread.

We fully understand the frustration and disappointment of our customers who wish to use this feature on Premium Styles, but I do want to clarify that flyover menus are absolutely available to our paying members. In fact they are available to all our customers regardless of your account level. If this is a critical feature to you we encourage you to play with an alternate style that has flyover menus implemented.

I'm sorry, but this is entirely not acceptable, and I wish I'd have known of Weebly before I was forced to renew my subscription for an entire year. I'm seriously considering filing a complaint with the BBB (and whatever appropriate U.S. federal government agency) over Yola's deceptive practices.

It has been asked time and time and time again when flyover menus will be made available? You all will give a time frame, and that time frame will come and go, and nothing has changed. You all won't even proactively give updates on the issue. You'll only respond when queried. And even then, it's a bunch of crap, because the response will state that Yola NEVER gave a time frame on which flyover menus will be available to PAYING customers, even though that's a blatant lie based on just this example response from a Yola employee found at this link...

Hi jamesbelan,

"Right now our styles do not support creating drop-down menus. However, we will be releasing this functionality as part of the Yola Silver package early 2011."

That was TWO years ago! Last year in the same thread Laura posted, an official Yola rep name Stefan, stated this:

Stefan (Official Rep) 5 months ago

"Hi everybody

Developing the feature [flyover menu's for paying customers] further is on our roadmap for the first quarter of the new year. Thank you for your further patience!"

So, so far we have at least two instances, where Yola employees have given exact time frames for which this feature was supposed to be made available. The first quarter of 2013 has come and gone, and not a peep from you all on why this feature STILL has not been implemented. Then, there's the other example which was made over TWO YEARS AGO! Why is it taking TWO YEARS for you all to do something as simple as implementing flyover menus that are now a web standard???

Hi northwesternchoralsociety,

We fully agree that it is unfortunate that we estimated some timelines that were not accurate. As a business, there are times when we need to change our focus and reallocate our engineering assets to ensure we are making the changes that best serve the majority of our customers. We are hesitant to provide timelines for feature requests in order to avoid frustration and disappointment as things do change on a daily basis and for a wide variety of reasons.

As detailed in the thread I linked above, when we originally launched flyover menus on Free styles it was to test their use and popularity. Happily the feedback was positive and we began to make plans to implement them to the remainder of our styles which is what Stefan and Francois were referring to. Upon further investigation it became clear that this would not be a trivial undertaking due to the existing published websites who are using the secondary menu feature that already exists within those styles. In light of this, other projects have taken precedence for now. That said, this feature is still on our roadmap and we are keenly aware of how important it is to you. So as not to give anymore inaccurate information, I cannot provide a possible release date, but this has not been forgotten by us and we do appreciate your continued support for the feature to be extended to Premium styles.
