Great question! Twitter is often referred to as a "micro-blogging" site. Each post or "tweet" consists of no more than 140 characters and simply answers the question: "What are you doing?" A typical Yola tweet would be something like: "Yola has just released a new banner cropping feature. Check it out at www.yola.com!" Twitter is very useful for staying up to date with the latest information on any subject as it is so fast. To get a feel for how it works, go to: http://search.twitter.com/ and enter a search for a subject that interests you (swine flu is popular at the moment for example) and find out what people are saying about that topic.

If you don't have a Twitter account you can create one (free of course) and start using this channel to communicate about whatever interests you. For example you could send out a tweet every time you update your site.

Many people wonder what Twitter is about and why it is so popular. I must confess that it took me quite a while to get into it myself, but now that I have, I must say I find it extremely useful. I like to use it to get up-to-the-minute information about web services (to find out if a service is down for example) or just to listen in on people's opinions about a particular topic.

Twitter has a very active Get Satisfaction forum, so you might want to pay them a visit: http://getsatisfaction.com/twitter
