For silent auction using Google Docs, how do you show the current high bid on the Yola website? John helped a great deal a couple weeks ago, getting me through the process of using Google Docs and an embedded form; however, I decided that it would be better to display the current high bid back on the auction page of the website. Do you have any suggestions as to how I might do this?

Hello John, I went through the steps with the Google Docs and an embedded form, but then before finalizing it, I realized I could not flash the current bid back to the webpage. ICan you help with this problem?

I did not save it John, as I thought I'd hit a major stumbling block. I then wasted some time looking into using Ebay, but now thought I'd try Yola help one more time. If you think we can solve this issue of flashing the current bid price back to my sister's website, then I'll go embed the form and maybe we can pick this discussion up tomorrow after I have a form for you to look at? What do you think? Is this doable?

Okay John, I'll find this thread tomorrow after work and we'll continue then. Should I still set up the Google Docs form before we begin again?

If you saved the form and it is just a matter of embedding it again go ahead and do so please.......I have no idea if we are even in the same time zone or country so not sure when after work is....I am in the USA Central time zone.

Hi John, if you're there...I had a new idea today...what about a blog page, where every entry on the blog is an auction item, and with an ability to comment, one could place a bid and see what the highest bid is? Do you have any thoughts on this, or a different idea for displaying the high bid?

I had thought of maybe using a blog also....As long as you are there to manage it I think it would work.....On the Google forms you can set it so people can see the spreadsheet but not modify it and they would see what others bid......My problem with that is keeping everyone honest....All it would take is one person posting with someone else's e mail to mess it all up....Were you going to use Disqus blog widget? What ever way you go we can always do a test run first.

I'm not sure why I'd need to be there to manage it? Am I missing something here?
I was just reading the basics of adding a comments block to a yola blog and about Disqus; I'll go give this a try and let you know how it goes.

John, using Disqus, will I be able to view the comments (bids) on my webpage as they come in, or will I need to login to Discus to see what the bids are?

Yes you will be able to view as they come in on your page...If you would like to post your blog url here....I would be happy to follow it and make a test comment

I'm assuming I'd have to update my page for you to test it, is that right?

Yes....Just don't put it in the nav bar if you are not ready for the general public to go there

If I want to add a new auction item, do I add a new "blog widget" or do I add a "new post" inside the blog widget I already have?

I tried adding a "new post," but the new one got placed on top of the older one, instead of below it. Is there a way to rearrange the order? I went into the Blog Manager, but did not find a way to change the post's vertical position.

Hi Ella - by default, the newest post goes to the top of the page. Currently there isn't a way to reorder the posts unless you keep reposting the one you want at the top after adding a new post.

I'm not at all familiar with Silent Auctions - can you provide us with a link to your site so that we can see what you've done? If you have a link to information on how Silent Auctions work, I could take a look into it.
