Text formatting inconsistent on mobile version of site - copied and pasted from MS Word.

We currently have a website www.neffiscupcakes.co.uk which I administer via a PC. WE upgraded to Yola Silver as it offers mobile publishing so that the site can be mobile device friendly.

However, there are serious formatting issues on the mobile publishing segment as when I look at my site's first page on a mobile device I see text in multiple fonts and colour formats. It really looks terrible and I am not happy putting this facility out to my clients.

Can you please have a look at this segment and let me know what you can do to assist or fix this issue with your mobile publishing segment?

Best way for you to check this is to view www.neffiscupcakes.co.uk via a PC and the same site via a mobile device. If you scroll down to the client feedback segment on the PC it shows how the format should be, but when you scroll down on the mobile device it's showing multiple fonts and colours.

You can email me at mels1705@gmail.com if you require further information.

Regards

Mel

Hi Mel

Thank you for upgrading your account and enabling mobile publishing! This is a really important feature and we want to help you take advantage of it. I hope we can help you resolve the problem you are encountering with the formatting of your text.

I had a look at your site on my computer and on my iPhone. On both versions of the site I see text in multiple fonts and color formats, so it does not seem to be specific to the mobile version of your site if I am understanding the problem you describe correctly.

I had a look at the source code of your page and I can see that you copied and pasted the text on the homepage from MS Word and as part of the copy and paste, multiple font formats came along for the ride. Unfortunately MS Word rich text is not web friendly so direct copying and pasting often causes issues of the nature you describe. The best way to avoid this is to first paste the text into a program such as NotePad to strip out the formatting and then paste it as plain text on your site. You can then format the text within Yola, either using the "Custom Fonts" selector or the text widget. This will give you a more consistent, web friendly result and a better display across different browsers and devices.

Please give this a try and let us know if the problem persists.

Hi Monique,

Thank you so much for the speedy response. Word may have been the culprit here with the multiple fonts and colours. The front page via a PC should only display pink and grey feedback with bold black for the name of the client. I will copy everything in the feedback section to notepad, which hopefully will strip the format issues and repaste. I can then use the text edit widget to format it correctly. I'll keep you posted on how it turns out.

Thank you again. :o)

Best wishes,

Mel

Best regards, thanks and big hugs!!

Wow, happy to help and glad it was something simple! For the sake of others who may search for help on similar issues, I am going to edit the title of this thread to make it easier to find. Copying and pasting is such a standard practice and it wouldn't occur to most people that it could cause problems with a web page.
