Hello KarmanS

Yola does not offer FTP. For a website to run on our servers it needs to be created with our Sitebuilder. If you need to upload any files you can do so from with in the Sitebuilder by clicking on the "File Manager" button.

I hope this answers your question. Please let me know if it does not.

Hi Kamram

If you don't mind me asking, why would you like FTP access?

Thanks

Hi KamranS

If you upgrade to Yola Silver, you will still not be able to upload .html files to your site. You will need to use the Sitebuilder to build your sites. If you want to use HTML, you can add the code in HTML Widget for the body of the page.

Hope this answers your question.

Let us know if you have more questions.

Thank you

Hi

The reason some of us also want to upload via ftp is because we have slow dsl (384kbps) connections which really messes around with uploading via your File Manager and because uploading via FTP is a more efficient way of doing things. You're not going to lose anything by offering a FTP upload option.

Hi Kosta,

Even though, as you say, FTP may be a more efficient way of doing things, it has some very serious shortcomings in the security department.

We currently have a rather large user base and keeping their websites and related information safe from malicious attacks, is of paramount importance to us. FTP is a security disaster, even when it is used with a transparent TCP security mechanism such as IPSEC.

HI,

I have just purchased Yola Silver and I have also just purchased my domain name too I have also purchased a templaye from MT that has advanced HTML5 coding that also has Adobe and CSS and some PHP. I will be very dissapointed if this does not support FTP as I have noticed you have to do a lot of tweaking for it to display properley and even then it don't quiet display correctly! Oh and on top of that Yola then want to charge me £70 quid for a renewall fee in a years time for something that don't quiet work correctly how it should like other sites. I had a freind who had their domain via GBBO that used Google Sites and it seems that Yola and Google are practicall the same

Can anyone else see my plight?

Agree or Disagree?

Hello Vasile,

There seems to be a bit of confusion as to how our Sitebuilder works. It is not possible to upload an external template into Yola. You do need to use a style from our Style Library. Many of our styles can be customized. Please take a look at Personalize Your Style. We do not offer FTP services as you do need to use our Sitebuilding tools to design and build your website. Yola and Google may be the same in many aspects but we do have a different approach to things. I believe that once you get used to how things operate with Yola, you'll find that you can do a great many things. We are more than happy to help you along this process.

Although our renewal price may be a bit more than what others offer, we still believe we offer a tremendous value when you consider the hosting, extensive Sitebuilding tools available, and award-winning support services included.

If there is anything further I can assist with, please do let us know!

I have just started using Lightroom 4 to make a web gallery because the options are terrible here in yola. When I upgraded to Silver I thought that I would be getting better options than this. NOW I find out I CANNOT even upload my Gallery because Yola Silver does not offer FTP!?!?!?! I guess Yola is only good if you are looking for the MOST BASICS in editing.

Hello Biliegh

It's true that it is currently not possible to use FTP. As Yola is an online website builder, using FTP is usually not necessary, but we are considering to offer this in future. However, I can't make any promises at this stage.

I'm sorry that you don't seem to be happy with our features. If you don't like our Picture Gallery Widget, you can always embed custom HTML code provided by third-party providers of image galleries into your Yola website instead of using FTP. There are lots of (free) galleries on the internet that you can use to add to your site this way. This will also save you storage space in your Yola account.

To get some ideas please see our tutorial Photo Galleries.

I am very glad to hear that. I have tried a ton of options and right now I have one up for my Gallery that is going to work for now, until FTP does become an option. I had major issues making things "fit" into yola that come from outside sources so right now I am good. The only problem is that the gallery option I have right now has an ad at the end of the slide show and if I was able to use FTP this would not be an issue At All.
I am comfortable with Yola. It is a lot easier for me to use and understand compared to the places I tried before I landed here but even the Free places have better options than here, like Flash. Honestly that is the only thing I care about "Flash"
I dunno, maybe introduce Flash Gallery templates before FTP since you guys seem to be against it? And see if that helps with peoples need for the FTP?

Hello Biliegh,

Flash is being quickly replaced by HTML5 because Flash can't be used natively by a number of OS that have recently emerged and is being made redundant. eg: You can't use Flash on iPads and iPhones so this is a real drawback with more and more people switching from laptops and desktops to these kinds of devices.
