Redbookastro,

Your only option at the moment is to us a different host. Like x10hosting.

I agree Yola is amazing for starters but once you start learning programming languages.

But I think you should stick with yola for a while. If you have only HTML skills and Basic CSS you won't be able to built a site. You will want something interactive like an image slider. And you will need to know how to install them.

And I do agree that the yola templates aren't the best but they try their best to add new ones.

The the help of a friend I learned HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and im learning PHP now.

If you want to start getting into learning more you can email me at: shawn@weebuild.biz

I'll be glad to help you further on creating a website if you don't want to use yola.

Oh and no you can't get into the website directory. It would be a nice feature though.

But not sure it's possible. Maybe one of the yola employees can ask there engineers about adding that. Which of course isn't a feature that would be coming soon but it would be good for the advanced user.

Best Regards,
Shawn

Actually, you can customize quite widely even with the free Yola site. You can edit the page HTML, write your own HTML (drag in the HTML widget and blaze away) and add small Javascripts in the same way. You can change your banner pic and text, create your own menu (and sub-menus) to replace the ones on your page.

Yes. But I think he is mainly talking about the directory thing. If you can't enter the directory then its kinda bad.

Thanks Shawn and Phillip for your helpful replies, they are both right on.

We are constantly striving for a balance between advancing our Sitebuilder features to accomodate the new skill sets of our long term, advanced users while still keeping it easy and user friendly for new users, many of whom have no aspirations to ever learn how to code but need to create a professional looking website. It's a challenge and we're always open to feedback on how to strike the perfect balance!

A thing that Yola is really missing is the ability to add PHP files to a website.

Do you know why Yola doesn't allow them?

The websites run on .php anyways so why not a have a PHP widget.

Then people could start setting up a Login. If they don't know how I bet Nathan wouldn't mind showing them.

Best Regards,
Shawn
