It looks like this may just be a delay on Google's end - one of our engineers found this in Google's help docs: http://sites.google.com/site/webmaste...

The relevant part is this:

"These errors will naturally disappear from your Webmaster Tools account after awhile, as we stop crawling pages that repeatedly return 404."

We also have scanned your site with a few tools and verified that you do not have any 404's anymore.

So I guess, hang tight - it looks like it'll just take some time for Google to update.

Thanks!

Hi Stephanie,

I dont think this is google end

See yola created the catagories, tags and in turn unique pages for the blog

Google then indexed them helping people find my blog

Yola then took the pages away making them show 404

We now have 140 indexed pages now listed in google that show an error

ahhhh Starting to panic if you mention wait repeatedly return 404 Jeepers thats dangerous

Perhaps the programmers could recommed a special blog redirect?

Aus, as you can see in the text I quoted, google says it can take "awhile" for their crawler to update, which means you are not seeing the most recent data in the webmaster tool. We have made the fixes on our end, and can only now wait for whatever "awhile" means. I'm guessing awhile means a few days at the very least.

Sorry, but there isn't anything else we can do on our end until Google's crawler updates.

Thanks,

Stephanie

Stephanie,

Thanks for your note - just my thoughts however

Unfortunately : I believe It has nothing to do with google

Yola has removed the "category " section of my blogs

Example

http://www.courierquotes.com.au/couri... in Perth

This was a URL last week: Click it , where did yola put it ? hmm interesting
this is against 146 separate catagory urls

I believe googles crawler can crawl it over and over again , it is no longer showing on yolas side, they are not live urls anymore hence problem is not fixed its causing a negative ranking error

*****
I personally think it has something to do with the yola spaces in between the end of the url

as it only looks to be happening with catagories with more than one word

This is showing as a bad link:
http://www.courierquotes.com.au/couri... in Perth

This is showing as a good link:
http://www.courierquotes.com.au/couri...

Good link example one word:
http://www.courierquotes.com.au/couri...

Good link example one word
http://www.courierquotes.com.au/couri...

Now Im stumped this catagory has 3 words and works too
http://www.courierquotes.com.au/couri...

Ahhhh - I dont know - Hmmmmm - If you could please relook at as I dont think it is fixed on our side yet

Hello - could you let us know if Google has crawled your site again since we released the fix earlier this week? We would like to confirm that Google has recrawled your site and is definitely still returning errors before investigating further.

Aus -

Those urls all work for me, including this one http://www.courierquotes.com.au/couri....

I really think it must be a delay with Google's crawler at this point, we scanned your entire site and didn't find any 404's.

Thanks,

Stephanie

Heya Aus-

I have not received an error log from you. I can't do anything more until you forward that over to us, we do not see any errors on our end, and all of the links you keep mentioning as broken are working.

Please send the error log over, otherwise we cannot help you any further.

Thanks,

Stephanie

Heya Aus,

Thanks for sending along the error log, it was really helpful to let us see what you're seeing.

The vast majority of URLs that are being reported as errors are no longer 404's. You can test this yourself by clicking on any of the "discovered on" URLs and checking for the link listed as broken in the page. You'll find that in nearly every case, the link is there and working.

The ONLY case where you will not find a working link is with regards to the /international (the last few URLs in the spreadsheet). In that case, you must have deleted the associated blog or page. Those urls will disappear as soon as google's crawler rechecks.

The crawler, as of yet, has not re-checked your entire site. The "last crawl" date you are seeing in google is the last date the crawler touched ANY url on your site. If you check your spreadsheet, there is a "discovery" date, which is the date when google last looked at that specific URL. You'll notice that every single one of those dates is in October - before we rolled out the fix. As time goes on, those dates will update and the errors will disappear from the logs.

Also, you should be aware that this does not effect your rank - pagerank is only effected by links from a different domain, not links within your own site. As all of the error logs show the links being found on your own domain, your Google rank is not effected at all.

We understand that from what you can see, it looks like there is still cause for concern, however, all we can do at this point is assure you that the error is completely resolved on our end after extensive work from one of our lead engineers. We do not plan to investigate this any further until some time is allowed to pass as we believe strongly this is simply an issue with google having not rechecked your site at this point. If you do not see improvement in two weeks time, please let us know and we will look again, but we feel confident in assuring you that your page rank is not being affected in the interim and you will see the errors drop off in time.

Thanks,

Stephanie
