I am getting this message on trying to access my two sites namely www.unitedchurchhermanus.com and www.mightymenoverberg.com.

Gateway Timeout
The following error occurred:

Is this a Yola problem?

Keep getting this gateway error too. Very frustrating. If this is Telkom's fault it figures... My ADSL line has been more off than on since I had it installed in Aug-2010. I'm loosing revenue as well, as my business is internet based (online shopping) and it's extremely frustrated as this is my only means of income. I agree with Fishing Fanatix, Telkom should be held responsible for our losses.
Please sort this out! We are loosing here big time.

Hello Everyone

Just to give you an update on what has been happening. This is what we've determined so far. This is a Telkom issue as those who are not using Telkom can see your site and well as their own sites without any probelms. We have been able to track the problem to Telkom's router. As much as we wish we could resolve this for you, it is an issue that needs to be addressed by Telkom. We have already reported this problem to them and you can help us by also contacting Telkom and reporting this to them. Hopefully, with people reporting this issue, Telkom will be able to address this more quickly.

I know that that this is frustrating and inconveniencing. I do hope that you can all hang in there as this is sorted out. Please be rest assured that others who are not using Telkom are able to visit your sites!

Please can you give me details of the router and a reference number for the Telkom query so I can raise the issue with them. Many thanks

Hello Angela

We do not have the router information - we just know that it their router that is timing out. You will need to create your own ticket for Telkom. Thanks so much for helping us with this!

I really feel for you guys... I know how frustrating this is. Same thing happend a few months back to our (SA) Yola sites. I'm one of the lucky few South Africans this time round. I just hope it gets sorted out over the weekend. You know how those guys are!!

Anyway, This needs to be stopped once and for all. Maybe one of the Yola employees should set up an appointment with them (once this is sorted out) and find a means to prevent this from happening again. Anyone considering their 8ta offering?

The less I have to do with Telkom the better, so I shall stick far away from 8ta. Just hope that LLU gets sorted out this year!

Hi everybody.

To make this more confusing the error on my side seems to change every few days from; cookie deactivated, to gateway error, to decoding error, then its fine for a few days. Also when my PCs give me errors my iPod on the same internet connection can access www.yola.com no problem.

So if this is Telkom then how does my ipod get through, when my PCs can't, all on my internet through WebAfrica and thus Telkom. I did however not experience this problem on a Vodacom 3G/HSDPA connection!

However, even when I have NO access to www.yola.com I can access my sites and everybody else's.

This is the error I get from Safari:
“cannot decode raw data” (CFURLErrorDomain:-1015)

Firefox also refused to access Yola.com now its getting in perfectly fine.

SAIX DNS:
Preferred 196.25.255.34
Alternate 196.25.255.3

Just fixed my problems with the following Open SAIX DNS Addresses:
Preferred 208.67.222.222
Alternate 208.67.220.220

I hope these work on ALL ISPs only tested them on WebAfrica.co.za

Done a little browsing and MY error seems to be related to this:
"It sounds like an issue with SDCH. Are you guys using Privoxy by any chance?"
Does anybody know if my error is completely unrelated to the:
[code=GATEWAY_TIMEOUT] A gateway timeout occurred.

This has been happening to me also. Once in a while I will go to my site and an error will be "This site is not available. Please try again in a few minutes." I re-publish my site and it is gone. Another error message is "There was an error publishing your site. Please re-publish your site" Do you guys at Yola know why this has lately been happening? Before all of these new features this wasn't happening, do you think it has something to do with all of these features being added to Yola?

Thanks!
Nathan

Thankfully I have had no problems access my site.

Looks like I spoke too soon as all my browsers cant access Yola.com, except for Firefox. The rest give: Error 330 (net::ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED): Unknown error.

I can access one of my Yola sites (dolusmalus.co.za), but not my other one (dolphinfinancecc.com). I run Windows 7 with FireFox (just downloaded the latest version a week or so ago), Telkom supplies the ADSL and my internet contract is through Nexus (thankfully not Telkom).
Does anybody know what happened to Telkoms 24 hour fault report line (10219)? it's not accessible outside office hours any more so I doubt that this problem will be solved before Monday. Don't think how they figured faulty lines only keep to office hours...
Telkom sucks!
My website is running a Valentine's Day special that some of my customers won't be able to see due to their incapability to tend to this problem with the urgency it requires.

I'm really not happy about this situation. I have already phoned Telkom and they have told me the problem is with Yola. What good will it do to phone again? At this point my five Yola sites are all invisible to Telkom customers. How do I explain this to MY customers?
Regards,
Angela

I'm concerned about the level of coordination on this - I post info about Telkom's feedback early last week and you're only looking at it now, and now there is a Yola person who can fix this? Do you relay info we post to the techies? I would really like to have the person who is working on this participating here, given the severity of the problem.

Hello everyone

I'm sure that this is quite frustrating and quite inconveniencing as well. I will ask Jeremy if he able to provide any insight.

@ Angela - can you please share any information that Telkom provided when you spoke with them? This may give us something to work from if we know what their reasoning is.

Hi Sanja
I already posted this above, but here it is again:

Telkom tell me that SAIX say the problem is with Yola.

If you ping any of the sites I'm struggling with you get 72.52.4.95.

If I put that into my browser I get a Yola message saying
Your domain is pointing to Yola!
Now you just need to publish your site and you're done!
Here's what to do

1. Log into your account and open your site in the Sitebuilder.
2. If your site is unpublished, click on "Publish to the web" and then choose "I already own my domain name". Follow the steps until your site is published.
3. If your site is published to a subdomain, click on the down-arrow next to "Publish to the web" to open the Publishing Settings and publish your site to a domain you already own.

Best regards,
Angela

Hi,

My name is Jonathan, and I run the Operations Team at Yola, and we've been battling with this issue for over a week now. Unfortunately, though, the problem is not directly within our control. Since the only people having problems loading their sites seem to be on Telkom/SAIX, we must conclude that there is a network problem somewhere between Telkom users and our servers. I almost wish that the problem were directly with our servers, because then we would be able to do something about it actively.

We have been collecting traceroutes from all of you (and thank you very much for taking the time to help us with this debugging!), and we're pretty sure we have managed to narrow down the problem to one or two links. I am in communication with the SAIX network administrator, and we hope we can get this issue ironed out successfully.

In the meantime, we want to do everything we can to mitigate the problem for you guys. We can create a temporary workaround per site, so that you will at least be able to continue working for now. However, I must stress that the workaround will be temporary - it will be sufficient for now, but could break later on if things change. For this reason, I'd like to ask all of you with broken sites to mail our support team, so that they can add the workarounds individually. They will keep track of the sites to which they do this, so that when this issue is fixed, they can revert your site to normal, thus making sure you're in no danger of things breaking later on down the line.

I'd like to thank you all again for your patience and assistance while we debug this (and thanks also to the Yola support team who have been working as the go-betweens, collecting your information and passing it on to me!). Hopefully it won't affect you for much longer.

Sincerely,
-Jonathan Hitchcock

It is not that Yola "doesn't work in South Africa". There is currently a problem for users on SAIX - once this is resolved everyone on SAIX will be able to view their sites. For what it is worth the entire Yola Cape Town office can view your sites from sunny South Africa!

I have 2 sites published through yola.com. The first is wwww.creativecase4web.com which used to load perfectly and now will not load from any of the computers in my network. The second is www.lagoonhouseplet.com which has never loaded on any of my computers. Now I have accessed the sites perfectly from other computers on different networks, but I cannot from mine. We have changed the DNS settings and will contact the ISP to see if there is anything from their side. I see however on your facebook site and now on this forum that this seems to be a problem for a few people. I have already logged a problem on this forum to which I got no answer. Please could you be so kind as to help on this matter as it is most unnerving.
Thanks
