I thought it time to update the site and it all begins with the banner... These are a few of the ones that are mulling around my brain. I like them all but need to be pushed over the cliff so to speak...

Any favorites and why?

I personally am undecided, but narrowed it down to 1 & 4. There should be more emphasis on the bee and the bear, since it's a logo and it's better to have the words centered.

Number 1 I think is the best. It stands out more with the yellow writing, makes the banner feel more bright and happy. Also, with the bear on the left side and the writing in the middle it gives the banner balance with the images.

It is very cute !! ^_^

Hey Ronald

Thanks for reminding me. I had those two in another folder. If my head wasn't attached LOL (30 minutes of sleep last night is my excuse) Thanks greatly for your opinion...

Centering of a logo is more than okay but these days the unwritten rule is usually logo to the left... BUT, it all depends on the site builder... ;)

Hey Ed!

Nice to see you around again and again wowing us with your creativity! I think I like either #1 or #2. The yellow lettering does pop out more I think.

Whatever choice you end up going with, I know it will be awesome!

Hi Ed
They're all awesome up to your usual awesomeness with or without sleep. :)

They're all a bit too "busy" for me, but these probably aren't the actual sizes, right? I'd probably drop the large bee and leave the tiny ones. My favorite is #2. I like that "Playhomes" is close in size, if not the same as "Honey Bear."

The more I look at them the harder the choice becomes. They're all good.
I would like to see an example of No1 with the big Bee replaced by the clouds and the green flower removed from the doorway.

Who needs sleep anyway?

I know what you mean... I cannot make up my mind and can go a million different ways. I hope that it comes soon cause I am going batty. I think that I will give it a few days of thought... Is no 12 what you were thinking?

If I were to pull one from a hat, I think I would be very happy if I chose No 12.

It's gonna be a hard decision in the end...

Because the bears tongue is sticking out I had always wanted to do a dripping honey effect like this. Kinda like the honey is coming from the honeycombs inside the letters.

Looks pretty cool on the site with the site background to tie it all together. http://www.honeybearplayhomes.com/

Ed, you've got to stop, stop, stop coming up with variations! :)

Now I would choose #13. Reason: the "wood" for Honey Bear Playhomes reflects the material of the actual play structures.

Good luck deciding.

LOL I am sure that if you asked Yola how many versions they came up with for their logo it would be dozens. ;)

Good that you should mention 13 because I tried to match the border of the text to the black line around the bears face. For that one I was going to change the site background to match.

Thanks for your input Jean...

Hey Ed,

I like 13 for the same reasons as Jean, it shows a Eco-friendly side as well.
I also like 18 its got a bit of everything. Very eye catching. Awesome banners they are all outstanding.

#20 is it for me Ed. (Unless you keep coming up with more.)

I really like the bear in the house and the big happy sun. Still not crazy about the big bee, and honestly not the house on the right. That's probably just me, so feel free to ignore.

An aside: My daughter has a home daycare with a ton of play structures, swings, etc. We built the biggest one for her several years ago. I showed her these today and she chose #20 also--for what that's worth.

Thanks guys and gals, I am soaking in the opinions...

John, I gotta say that you made my morning with you sayin that you look up to me. Truth me told though, you will always have the upper hand because of my right front temporal lobe damage no matter what I know what to do at any one particular time my brain can never fully retain the memories of doing that task entirely. Imagine a letter with a censor blacking out half the words and you trying to read it after. For me and for most tasks I basically have to relearn all over again before even attempting. Thus is why I put a good amount of my aides on my tips thread. I use them probably more often than anybody. Safer to have them here in the forums rather than a computer which can crash. ;)

Hey Emmy, I quite like that one as well. For me it was the woody feel and the black border that picks up the black on the bears edge.

I spend a boatload of time playing around with the banner so I thought that I would take a break and work on a menu. Turns out it all kinda fell into place. A flash made menu with a PNG corner (static) banner that hangs out over the static menu like they are connected.

What do you think of them apples? ;) http://www.honeybearplayhomes.com/

I still am trying to make the site banner look presentable... Pretty soon I can get to the site content and really change the site around.

Ed, your talent is amazing! It's so hard to chose only one of these awesome banners. But if I have to, I wold choose #12 or #13, it's a tie! So I chose2 instead of 1. SOrry.:)

Ed, for me the winner is also 21 due to the new house, I had a quick buzz at your site and think its great, how about a page where kids can play a few interactive games?

My only criticism was the logo not scrolling with the page meant I could only read the page at certain positions which I found quite irritating, that apart, great site.

I was contemplating placing the new bear logo OVER the center of the page banner with some sticking out on top and bottom. Then the menu can add a few page buttone and move up to the top of the page.

Still working on it ;)

Okay David the menu scrolls now... No more irritation I hope...

Funny that you should mention a game... I had embedded a honey bee flash game two years ago and took it out because it clashed with my design. Now I suppose I can add one because it is so wide open of a color pallet.

Thanks for reminding me... ;)

Boy I tell ya... I forgot just how addictive working one ones site is. Sad that I didn't have it in me (health-wise) this last year to do much of anything on the site. Don't feel much better than before but I thought that I couldn't put it off any longer.

http://www.honeybearplayhomes.com/

My Niece says that for a site to catch the kids attention is has to be bright, cheerful and interactive so I have been doing a little tweaking here and there. I think that I have the nuts and bolts kinda figured out. Still need to work on the content though.

My first impression was for #1 or 4, because they are balanced and have a large image of your namesake.

This is one of those days that things fall into place I think. Check out all the honey sweetness so far. http://www.honeybearplayhomes.com/

Take a closer look at the grass at the bottom... Click on it and drag... The bee seems to fly right through it doesn't it??? ;) Pretty interactive I think...

So I've been a little on the wired side trying to add some much needed interactive features to the site. My nieces saw it and flipped out. Didn't believe that it was I who had made it. LOL

I just wish that the sitebuilder had a copy and paste feature so that all I had to do was insert all my half dozen HTML widgets with JS files for flash features and a dozen margined out images all layered up over the banner per page into one two-column widget and then click a little HTML button at the top left corner and you have access to all the codes of all the widgets contained within that two-column divider.. Hundreds and hundreds of codes all done near individually and hundreds of images all requiring the margins set just right and then copied to all the other pages on my site. If I had access to the two-column widget with HTML accessibility it would have taken me hours instead of days. Imagine how easy it would be to copy pages if we had a divider with HTML access.

Some clues to some newness...

1) Help the kid with the net try to catch the bee.
2) Awe, look at the little sleeping bee.
3) I wonder if those flowers at the bottom do anything.
4) Left click above the flowers on the grass and drag your mouse from left to right.

Man I do love that grass... Best I have seen yet online. Have you ever put blinking eyes and a mouth on flash bees before? Interesting to say the least. I tried my best to make the sleeping little guy in the hive look like his other friends.

Off to la la land...

When one has had the displeasure to code a page with upwards of 60 thousand characters or 4000 words or 1500 lines either way that you copy and paste it gets tedious in the end... One day I should take a screenshot of my index page and show what a taxing time I put on the old sitebuilder... I am amazed that it can handle all we throw at it...
