Hi Sas,

I apologize for the late response, we seemed to have missed this!

ADDING A SITE MAP TO GOOGLE WEBMASTER TOOLS

Go to Google webmaster tools dashboard: https://www.google.com/webmasters/too...
In the field entry box, replace “Click here to add a site” text with your SynthaSite website URL. Enter the full address:
http://mynewsite.synthasite.com.

VERIFY YOUR SITE

On the next page, you will see the following message : “No pages from your site are currently included in Google's index.” So the first step in the process is to get your website verified. Click on the link: verify your site.
Choose verification method: add a meta tag. A meta tag will automatically be generated. Copy only the portion in quotes. For example, "qxMqtg30kboZFHeAyBayL0nF7tiqOTK4lSV8OdzQ+AU=" is the only portion you need of the following meta tag:

Go to the home page of your website. Click on the Properties tab in right-hand sidebar. Where you see the empty Google Webmaster Code field below, paste the quoted string inside the text entry box. Save page, update your website.
Go back to Google webmaster tools, and click verify. You should get the following message: “You've successfully verified http://mynewsite.synthasite.com/. Now you are ready to add a Site Map.

ADDING A SITE MAP TO GOOGLE WEBMASTER TOOLS / YOUR SITE

Click on Site Map option in left-hand sidebar → Add a Site map. Choose “general web site map” from drop-down arrow selection.
There are now 3 instruction areas you need to complete.
1) create a site map
2) upload a site map
3) my sitemap URL is: http://mynewsite.synthasite.com/_____....

1) Create a Site Map.

Click on the following link to get detailed instructions from Google.
https://www.google.com/support/webmas...

Go to your published website. Go to each one of your published pages, and copy and paste the URL for each of your pages as a separate row into a new .txt document, as in example below.

http://mynewsite.synthasite.com/index...
http://mynewsite.synthasite.com/page1...
http://mynewsite.synthasite.com/page2...

2) Upload a site map (TO YOUR SITE)

Save the file, then upload it to your SynthaSite website, using the file manager. Save and publish your site.

3) Upload a site map (TO GOOGLE WEBMASTER TOOLS)

Go back to Google. In the file name entry box that says:

3) My sitemap URL is: http://mynewsite.synthasite.com/_____...

type in the URL your sitemap. This is the name of your sitemap .txt file, preceded by “resources/ “ as in example below:

http://mynewsite.synthasite.com/resou...

You should get a confirmation message that says: “You have added http://mynewsite.synthasite.com/resou...
Reports may take several hours to update. Thank you for your patience! “
Processing Sitemaps may take some time. Check again later to see if pages from your Sitemaps are included in Google's index.
On the Google Webmaster Tools Site maps page: If everything has gone correctly, eventually you will see the status column say “OK.”

Hope this helps.....

Regards,
Kershnee

Can you email us in support please. I'd like to know what URL you used for your sitemap, and that's perhaps something we shouldn't share here.

Kershnee,
I have tried the above method you describe as well as many others and still google can't see my sitemap. I get a range of errors fron 404 error to file is wrong format errors. It's very frustrating and time consuming.
I have a text file on a page called site-map and have also typed the links to pages. Also I have referenced the file through resources as you indicate. I have tried individual "fixes" and currently all of them together, it never works.

Hi Ned - the above process is an outdated version and I'm sorry you didn't know about the new steps. You can find everything you need to know by clicking on this link the tutorial: http://www.synthasite.com/tutorials/g.... We'll definitely mark this post as out-of-date!

When did you submit your site to Google Webmaster? It may be that you simply have to wait. If it has been more than 48 hours please contact us at support@synthasite.com so that we can take a closer look at your site and your site map.

If a post is buried it is removed from the search results, but people can still post on the thread. So the content is less visible, but still available. We bury a thread if it is out of date. If it is inappropriate or irrelevant we may move or remove it.

Thanks Monique,

I think this one really adds some confusion in the scrambled game of verification and rankings.

Thanks for the feedback. I can archive the thread. That will stop it from resurfacing if someone posts on it.
