Hello Amanda,

If you can tell me your site address then I can inspect the code for the banner and offer a code to remove it, hopefully.

The banner coding, in general terms, is style by style and in some there are additional elements that may look like the banner but may be a padding kind of arrangement around the banner itself.

It's also really easy to eliminate the banner using the Style Designer in Super Flat or Skyline if you aren't extremely committed to your style.

Understood! Please reply with your site address or the name of the style you are using as Gop suggested. :-)

Hi Amanda,

I don't have access to your sitebuilder.

I would use the published site to inspect the banner code and then give you the code to add to your site file.

As Laura mentioned I could work on the Style you have chosen and would need to name of the Style to do this.

So either:
  • Your published site address
  • or
  • The Style you are using to build your site.

will allow me to glean the code related to the banner.

@Laura T.
Thanks Laura, I overlooked the Style access option originally

Hello,

The following code should remove all the banner elements:

If you have a paid subscription you can add it to your site CSS.

div#sys_banner {

background: none;
height: 0;
margin: 0 auto;
width: 0;
}
div.banner {
height: 0;
width: 0;
}
div.banner_shadow {
}

original:

Banner removed:

Hello Amanda et al,

I'd say that the above code wasn't added completely or in your CSS over-rides. When I check your site I can't see the addition of that code to your site.

You may like to take a screen shot to illustrate the content you mention that has been cut-off?

If you are still seeing the banner shadow and the reserved space try adding the above code again to your CSS over-rides. The image comparisons above show the effect of that code specifically.

Your navigation images are not the optimal size for your page. They need to be approximately 120 pixels and all identical in width and height otherwise you will see differences most noticeably in the space under the images.

Add this to your CSS over-rides:
div.banner_shadow {

}

This is now the current modification of your site. This is what it will look like if you add that final piece of code. Somehow you missed it in the original code that I gave.

Hello Amanda

I've checked your Yola account and was able to fix the issue for you. Your Site CSS contained incorrect code, such as a closing bracket missing, and not the right attributes to undisplay the banner. I've corrected this, and I also adjusted the top margin value of the Text Widget you placed above your custom image navigation in order to align the custom navigation with the vertical standard navigation. Please refresh your page to see the changes in your Sitebuilder. I haven't republished, so if you're happy with the result, you'll still need to republish.

Hello Amanda

Here's the CSS code you will need to change the requested elements of your website:
div.header_wrapper {

background-color: #FF0099;
border-bottom: 1px solid #FF0099;
border-top: 1px solid #FF0099;
}

div#menu ul li:hover {
background: #FF0099;
}

div#menu ul li.selected {
background: #FF0099;
}

div#menu ul li.active {
background: #FF0099;
}

  • div.header_wrapper changes the top colour bar and its top and bottom borders. Replace the code by the code of your desired colour.

  • div#menu ul li:hover changes the hover background colour of your menu items.

  • div#menu ul li.selected and div#menu ul li.active change the background colour of the menu item which is currently opened (I'm not sure why there are two codes who refer to the same setting, so I provided them both to be on the safe side.)

For websafe colours, please see these resources:
