Godaddy.com Re-Direct Question

I published my Yola website (to Yola). I found out that my client already had a domain. I used the Yola directions to modify the "A" record. After modifying the "A" record on godaddy.com, I type the domain name. It re-directs to the yola site, but once inside the domain, the domain name changes to the yola URL. How do I fix this?

This is not a problem.

1. log in
2. Domains
3. Show advanced domain settings (choose ur site)
4. Choose the domain and click make primary.

Ayesh -- I'm not seeing the "make primary" setting in godaddy.com. Where do I find this setting?

Hello Don

We are having a bit of a bug with our domain tools which does not allow you to pick an external domain as the primary domain.

However, we can fix this up for you. Can you please let me know your domain name is? Thanks.

Sure - my external domain name (from godaddy.com) is www.reneautodismantling.com. Once you go there, it does the Yola redirection but does not persist the external domain name.

Thanks for your help!

Hello Don

Thanks for that information. Before I can fix up the primary domain issue, it appears that your domain settings are not correctly configured to point to Yola. You have only 1 A record set up.

Please make sure you have 2 A records set up. If you would like your domain to work correctly with the "www" prefix you need to make sure that your DNS settings are configured correctly to support the "www" prefix. For this you need to set up two A-records:

* Some domain registrars require one A Record with the hostname "@" and one with the hostname "www".
* Other domain registrars allow you to create one hostname called "domain.com" and another "www" (replace "domain" with your own address).
* Both should point to our IP address: 208.75.208.172.

For more information on pointing your domain to Yola, click on this link.

Once you've successfully pointed your domain to Yola, then we should be able to fix up the problem.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for contacting Online Support. It appears that you are pointing your domain to the IP address of 208.75.208.172 properly. The behavior of the URL changing to http://reneincorporated.yolasite.com is not related to the domain's DNS and will need to be addressed with the hosting company for this website. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Please let us know if we can assist you in any other way.

Sincerely,

Stephen P.
