GoDaddy Registrar with Yola Site using my domain name

I have read every post and tutorial about how to point my domain to Yola and am still confused. Call me "slow." :)

I have changed the A Host "@" record to point to Yola's IP, 208.75.208.172. Under Host CNAMES, I have "www" pointed to "@." When I published the site, it showed up almost immediately under my domain name, so that is good so far.

Do I still need to add another A record with www pointed to Yola's IP, as mentioned in the tutorials? Or is the CNAME "www" pointed to "@" enough?

Then do I also have to make changes to nameservers in GoDaddy? Currently there are two with "@" that point to "ns55.domaincontrol.com" and "ns56.domaincontrol.com."

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

I'd leave the name server alone.

So I don't need to add a second A record and the CNAME "www" pointed to "@" enough.

Thanks, papa.

Kershee, most of the Yola tutorials suggest we "add a second A record." Apparently that is not technically correct.

Hi Margie,

If you want your site to show when people enter www.yoursite.com OR yoursite.com into their address bar you do need 2 A-records as indicated in our tutorials.

You do not want to change the C-names if you are simply pointing a domain to a Yola built site, as papa suggested above.

Under step 6 were the instruction that I used.
In the sixth screen shot of "Configuring your GoDaddy domain" it shows under cname what I tried to describe above, as describe it step 6.
All my site at go daddy are set up that way. They work.

I want the site to show up only when they enter www.mysite.com. If I point a second A record to mysite.com (without the "www.") doesn't that cause duplicate site problems in google?

I found this information from google webmaster tool

"The preferred domain is the one that you would like used to index your site's pages. If you specify your preferred domain as http://www.example.com and we find a link to your site that is formatted as http://example.com , we'll treat that link as if it was http://www.example.com . In addition, we'll take your preference into account when displaying URLs in our search results. It may take some time for changes to be reflected in our index."

There is a box that you'd check "no preference" and both www. or with out would be treated as one site in the webmaster tools.

also more information at

Hope this helps.

Sorry to take so long wasn't ignoring you just got busy.
