Googe Email

I started my site through Weebly, where I was able to create an email address with my domain through google (example@livmaps.com). After I switched to Yola, my email address hasn't been working. I know Weebly said that it wasn't necessary to change MX Records because they did it for you, etc. Do these things have anything to do with each other? And most importantly, do I really have to pay Yola for email separately if I already used google mail? I have Yola silver if that means anything.

BTW I love Yola, the site looks so much better.

Thanks!

Hello Esther,

You can use Google Mail without costs on Yola.

Migrating a domain across hosting services carries a high risk of losing the continuity of your MX settings. If you know your MX settings and your domain is verified with Google you can manipulate the MX settings within your Yola DNS management to make the corrections.

Hello Esther

If you have existing email addresses setup, they will stop working when the domain has been transferred. Once transferred, you will have full access to your domain's DNS settings and you will be able to reinstate your email addresses by following our tutorial: Creating email addresses with your domain purchased from Yola.

If you are using a webmail service where you are logging into a website to view your mail, you will be able to add the MX Record they require to your DNS settings once the domain has been transferred. For information on accessing your DNS settings: Managing the domain you bought from Yola.

If you have difficulty doing this, please let us know, and we'll be happy to assist you further.
