Google Apps & Yola

I have recently purchased a domain name from Google (through GoDaddy) with Google Apps pre-configured. I would like to point my domain name to Yola. I have read the article on how to do this but upon visiting Domain Control Manager I have found there are 4 A-records pointing to IP of Google Apps services. Which of of this shall i edit without affecting Google Apps services?

I have tried creating a new A-record pointing to 208.75.208.172 (Yola IP) but this does not work even after 48 hours.

Appreciate any help and advice.

Hi Al,

I found this post on the Google Apps forum that will help: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p...

However, it does say that if you want to edit the Advanced DNS settings, you need to follow the steps on this link http://www.google.com/support/a/bin/a.... Apparently you will be directed away from Google to your domain registrar. If you are able to access GoDaddy, we have the steps on setting up your domain with GoDaddy on this link: http://www.yola.com/customer-support/...

I hope that helps!

Hi Mr.D - A Records don't affect your email, MX Records are the one's that are associated with email. If you have different A Records with different IP addresses, you will experienced problems pointing your domain to Yola.

It can take up to 48 hours for the change to propagate through the internet - when did you make the change?

i did everything of what the yola guide told me to and now i have two sites... one is http://orisupermarket.yolasite.com and the new one is http://www.orisdnbhd.com which, i will have to remove the subdomain in the near future if orisupermarket.yolasite.com would be able to redirecting the previous site to my new domain.

I change it about 8 hours ago. =P

Hello Mr.D,
I just want to make sure I understand what you would like to do. You currently have a website published to orisupermarket.yolasite.com and you would also like to use the domain orisdnbhd.com which is registered with Google for the site.

You can surely do this and the currently yolasite.com subdomain can redirect to your custom domain. I have looked at your domain settings and see that you have a CNAME record going to ghs.google.com, that is why you domain is currently going to that site. What you need to do is remove that CNAME record and add another A Record for www.orisdnbhd.com going to 208.75.208.172.

You will have to do this in your Google domain management area.

Please let me know if this is not the scenario you are looking for.

Hi pkandah,

If you have already bought a domain somewhere else, you can use it to publish your site, and still host your site with us for free! However, first you will need to configure your domain name to point to Yola. You do this by creating A records (address record) to point to this IP address: "208.75.208.172".

We have a tutorial outlining the steps to configuring your domain: Publish to a domain you already own.

Once you've pointed your domain, you can watch a step-by-step video on how to publish your site using a domain you already own: Publish to an external domain.

Hi all,
Help please!
Today I switched my hosting from Wordpress to Yola. I've been using GoogleApps with Wordpress, now that I switched to Yola my email doesnt work. My domain is already verified from before when I set up googleapps months ago, so i dont know how to generate another authentication code... I seem to be able to send mail, but I can't receive....

I am afraid I am a bit stuck on this one since we are not in a position to provide support for GoogleApps. I would have thought that if you have already verified your domain, you would not need to do so again as long as the domain is the same. However, my best suggestion is that you approach Google for support and they can let you know if you need to re-verify your domain and if so how to obtain a new verification code.

Hi Al
You might try this Google Apps link, http://www.google.com/support/a/bin/a..., to resolve this.
