hi Paul,

If you log into your google webmaster account then go to crawl errors then it should give you the error and where the error is. The 404 errors are like links that are broken and that dont exsit on the site. But with your homepage it should be indexed. take a look at this link

the way to get the error is like this
1. log into your webmaster account,
2. go to crawl errors,
then is should bring you to the 404 list of sites.
at the top in black, there is URL, Detail, linked from and Detected,
go to linked from and below it, there should be a link,
click on that then it should bring up the error.

here is an image of what it looks like in my webmaster

where i have got Pages that link to http://www.time-to-chat.info/7up-pinb... in black, under that, there is a link. i have got http://www.time-to-chat.info/7up-pinb... linking to http://www.time-to-chat.info/7up-pinb.... but i ahve deleted http://www.time-to-chat.info/7up-pinb... so it will throw up and error.

i hope this helps

Hello Paul,

This link on Google's site has information on crawl errors: http://www.google.com/support/webmast.... It will probably give you more information on what could be going wrong.

Hi Marije,
When I check the links on the error codes, google shows me my domain name, however it has a /cross domain xml at the end of the address ?
1.http://www.reusablecableties.com/cros...
2.http://www.reusablecableties.com/cros...

What do'es this mean ?

Many thanks for your help and Kind regards,

Paul.

Hello Paul - your site doesn't have a page or xml file called crossdomain, so I'm not sure where Google Webmaster is getting that information from. Perhaps it would be worth posting your request on their support forum? Here is the link: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p....

I'm also going to refer your request to our SEO team to see if they would know what could be going on.

Hello Paul,
I am going to have to go with Marije on this one and say that Google would be the best team to help with this. What I can tell you is that Google Webmaster can be a bit finicky and many times crawl errors will resolve themselves in a bit of time.

http://www.reusablecableties.com/cros... is not a URL on your site which is why it is returning a 404 error message... unfortunately I cannot say for sure why Google is finding that page.

I have also taken a look at your indexed pages and see that your home page is indeed indexed. I am thinking something like this will clear itself up and I am hoping that the team at Google will be able to respond to you on their forum.

Let us know how this goes for you.

Kind Regards,
Emmy

Hi Emmy,
Thanks to you all who have taken time to try and help. I have posted the problem on google but as yet I have not had an answer on how to resolve this problem. I am very frustrated, not with Yola but with google. www.reusablecableties.com was around the top of google for over a year which helped a lot with sales of our new product Uni-Tie (which is a new type of reusable cable tie, designed, and manufactured by us).
May be I should try some google Ads ? However that is more money going out and not enough coming in !

Kind regards,

Paul.

Yes, it can be frustrating for sure! Many people find that driving traffic to their site using search engine marketing (SEM) such as Google AdWords is extremely beneficial to their business goals.

Yola has partnered with Wpromote, a search engine marketing company, to provide these services to our customers. To learn more about what you can accomplish with Wpromote and to receive 30% off your first month please see this link: Wpromote. I hope that will be helpful.

In the meantime one of the best things you can do for your site is to add fresh content.

Kind Regards,
Emmy
