Hello Yola team. I am suddenly having problems with the sitemap on my site http://www.simplyeighties.com at Google Webmasters. I have tried resubmitting the site but I just keep getting the red cross! Can anyone help please?

Hi, are you using this URL for your site map:

http://www.simplyeighties.com/sitemap...

?

This is your website's site map that they made for you. Could you post a screen shot of the error?

Hi there Marky,

Your Error says it is a Temporary Error on Google's side and to try again in a few minutes.

Could you please wait a few hours and try it again and see if you still get the error.

Many thanks for working with us on this.

Hello again. Yes, google is now accepting the sitemap with a green tick!

Just one more question, though! Does anyone know why Google is struggling to index the pages in the sitemap? Only one page has ever been indexed from the sitemap in all the time the site has been running (nearly two years now!). Google just seems to struggle with the sitemap of this site, but my other sites seem to be fine.

Hello everyone, you can also submit your website's URL to Google's index here: http://www.google.com/addurl This will add it faster and, it will index all of your pages. That is what I did and now my website is indexed!

Sincerely,
Nathan

Hi Marky,

Thanks for your patience, sorry I was not able to respond to you sooner. A few things:

1. I do see that there are a large number of pages from your site indexed currently. You can see the pages that are indexed here: Indexed pages.

2. I see your primary domain name is www.simplyeighties.com (including the www). It looks to me from the image above that you verified your site without the www, here is a screen shot of where I see this. I believe this might be why you are receiving the error message about your sitemap. What I would suggest is that you go back and re-verify your site making sure to use the www version and then re-submit your sitemap.

I hope this will help and please let us know if it makes a difference.

Kind Regards,
Emmy

HelloEmmy. Many thanks for your reply which has solved the problem! Almost instantly Google is showing that the sitemap has indexed 103 pages. All because I didn't verify the www. version of the domain name. Problem sorted! Many thanks again for your excellent reply.
