Dear Yola
Even though I am reporting a problem I must first give praise - it's been a real pleasure creating my site with your site!

Now I am trying to put in a Google webmaster code. I saw the tutorial and have done the process about 6 times with no verification. I can't seem to figure out what I've done wrong.

Thanks for all your help
Lisa

Hello Maxxish,

That is wonderful that you have been enjoying creating your site with Yola, we love to hear that!

If you are having trouble getting your site to verify there are a few reasons why this could be happening.

1. Make sure that you have entered the proper code into the Google Webmaster field. You only need to enter the text that is between the " " and nothing else; it will look something like this: XlBMeWkrAxWIJtD5n3C3N8Zv09QKKl3R1MaoZnssKA0=
2. Make sure you clicked the yellow Update Site button after you entered the code. This will apply the change to your site so Google can crawl it.
3. If you have done both of these things and are still not able to verify your site, you may have entered your url in incorrectly. My suggestion would be to go back through the tutorial and redo the steps to make sure each part was done properly.

Please let me know if you continue to have trouble with this after going through these suggestions.

Hi Emmy
Thanks for your suggestions. Unfortunately, it's not helping.

I am cutting and pasting. I even tried typing the code in manually.

Google writes the code as
kKYFUBXa-AX24beT2WGBtu59po-mZyG2M82O1GW11f0

As both your tutorial and your example have a = at the end, I've tried with and without one (as it doesn't appear on my code).

No luck!

Googles' error msg is that they found the mega tag but the string was incorrect.
!!??$%^!!
How could that be if I am cutting and pasting???

Thanks again
Lisa

Maxxish,

Emmy might not be here right now...

Are you clicking 'update my site' after you have added the code, if you dont the change wont be live on the internet.

If you have done that perhaps you can leave your sites URL so we can have a look at the source code and see if everything is ok.

Hi Lee
Thanks so much for your reply.

Yes, I am updating my site. I feel really crazed because I can't see what I'm doing wrong.

The error message is that they can't find the meta tag.

The code between the two " " is
kKYFUBXa-AX24beT2WGBtu59po-mZyG2M82O1GW11f0

My URL is maxxishworld.yolasite.com

I appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanks a lot
Lisa

i'm sure they will fix it for you the're very good - the only thing i could think apart from that was you were trying to verify http://www.maxxishworld.yolasite.com instead of http://maxxishworld.yolasite.com and that was casuing a problem - but really it should'nt make any difference so im at a loss.

Sorry i couldnt be more help and i hope its all sorted soon.

have a nice day - Lee.
