Google Webmaster Sitemap Issue

I'm trying to add my sitemap (www.devicemagic.com/sitemap.xml) to Google Webmaster (I've already verified the site succesfully), but I always get the following error:
"We encountered an error while trying to access your Sitemap. Please ensure your Sitemap follows our guidelines and can be accessed at the location you provided and then resubmit."

I've had a look at the XML - it looks good to me. Bing also seemed to like it.

There was a previous discussion thread here - http://forum.yola.com/yola/topics/goo..., but it seems pretty dead now.

Thanks,
Dusan

Hello dusanb,

I'm sorry you are having this problem. Did you use our instructions to submit your sitemap to Google? Here is a link to the tutorial: Google Webmaster Tutorial.

Can you let us know if these are the instructions you followed.

Thanks,

Has it ever not worked for you? I'm trying to think if I've ever done anything non-standard...I did rename the home page at one stage. Currently it's called "index.php", which seems fine to me. Can you send me a URL so I can look at the sitemap.xml?

Maybe it's irrelevant, but at one stage the domain was forwarded to another domain (this was quite some time ago).

Hi dusanb,

We have not received any other support requests of this nature recently, so I am not exactly sure what the problem is. Have you tried resubmitting the sitemap?

Can you please check to make sure that the correct site is verified in Google Webmaster that you are submitting the sitemap for, and that the correct sitemap (sitemap.xml) has been submitted.

Here is a link to a forum thread where other GW users were discussing this error if you would like to take a look: Webmaster Central.

Let us know how this goes for you.

Just another update - I added by domain name without www to Google Webmaster and was then able to submit the sitemap.xml. I'm still not getting the pages indexed, but that is probably another issue.

Hope this helps anyone else that may have had this issue.
