Hi Susan

This is a great question! Your file needs to be in your file manager in order for it to appear on your page. When a file is uploaded to your file manager it gets added to the resources directory of your site. When you add the image to the page this in effect creates a link to the file in your resources directory which causes the image to be embedded in the page.

If you delete the file from the file manager, and subsequently update (republish) your site, the image will disappear from your published site.

Any image you want in your page needs to be stored in your Yola file manager.

I hope this answers your question. If not, please let us know.
