Hi.
My problem is this. I have recently introduced a new blog page onto my website www.stencelinventories.co.uk. The pages have been indexed but google webmaster tools are now showing me that i have 26 meta tag duplicates and 20 duplicate title tags. How can I sort this out so that each blog post is indexed differently?

Hi,

The metas aren't a problem you can simply remove these keywords . Keywords aren't used for indexing by Google and Yahoo/Bing.

The title tags may be an issue but there's nothing that you can do about this with the Yola Blog at this time.

Each blog post has it's own URL and this seems to carry the posts at an acceptable level by the search engines. The unknown is the negative effect (if any) of Title tags.

So what Should I do? Just leave it? Do I have to remove the keywords and if so why does yola have a keyword tag at the end of each post?

Great. They may be an issue? Would it be better to redo my blog with wordpress or something else?Bearing in mind I`ve worked days with the yola blog.

This is what google webmaster is shosing me in meta tags...... My blog page is located here http://www.stencelinventories.co.uk/n...

Keywords have been downgraded for the sake of indexing. the styles were created, as are most, with this facility included. There are other services that still may use keywords but not the big search engines.

I wouldn't worry about removing the keywords as they are simply not used. I wouldn't worry about adding any more for the purpose of indexing though.

We can't get a definitive answer on the title tags. If it is a downer then the effect doesn't seem profound is what I was trying to communicate. Just laying it out as it seems to be understood.

The real thing with indexation is content far and above all else. If your content is new/original, and of good quality then your site/blog will be viewed well by the big search engines. Your content is original and it's informative. It is probably what your market are looking for to become informed so I think that you have a very good chance at succeeding with your blog

I`d like to add that when i go to site:stencelinventories.co.uk I can see all my posts however they all appear very close to duplicate content eg.http://www.stencelinventories.co.uk/n...

None of my blog posts however have come out in the REAL google index yet, its been about a week. And will the titles of each individual blog post come up?

Google does show duplication in their Webmaster Tools for the meta description and regardless Google does not like duplication.I removed the meta description tag from my blog (that is what is repeating over and over) and have not had any adverse effects. The title of each blog post is our page/window title and those are not repeating on my site. I did some checking on several posts that are anywhere from recent to 3 years ago. If I search post titles they still come up fine in a Google search which mean all my posts are being indexed. In fact Google shows my site at 294 URLs submitted 292 URLs indexed. It is still good to do some searches of your own once in awhile to verify.

I haven't felt the effect of dupe metas. The posts get indexed smartly and I too have a great majority of indexed pages. I haven't removed any metas from the earlier posts and I don't add any new ones so that I guess is my experience.

It's data and it's experience and KTD has taken a different approach and has been very successful.

There is nothing documented by Google by my searching on the perils of duplicated metas, I haven't seen any reference to it by Google Gurus. In fact there's anecdotal evidence to suggest that there is no negative effect as Matt Cutts, Google Webmaster person, still has duplicate metas in his posts and doesn't seem to be penalised to the supplemental results. :)

Noted. But if someone could answer my last question concerning the indexing of my posts? They are showing as indexed in webmaster but not showing up in a search - even if i type the direct title in....
To clarify I type site:stencelinventories.co.uk
All my blog posts are there - but not when I go to google search.
Much appreciated.

When you say you moved the meta description tag- Is that the ekyword tag widget on the side of the blog plus all keyword descriptions in each individual post? A bit confused.....:-)

I really don't know the correlation between successful indexing and the searching success using the post title.

Google focuses on content. If it finds the content and it's good quality it then will display your titles in the SERPS.

If for instance you typed your post title into a Google Search, it's possible that Google may not accept the title verbatim as the best indicator of content. It does it's own interpretation of the search string entered. A lot of people have said this isn't so good and i guess if it turns out that way then Google will review.
